Hello!
I am running Windows 8.1 professional 64 bit edition. Back when Paint Shop Pro X8 was first released, I downloaded and installed the trial version. My problem was I could only install the 64 bit edition of PSP X8. I tried to seek information the reason why from this forum and others, but received none. I usee the 32 bit edition of PSP because it will allow me to access the Photoshop plug-ins.
My question is can anyone tell me if I purchase the PSP X8 download version will I be able to access the 32 bit edition?
Thank you.

You should be able to, yes. My copy has both 32-bit and 64-bit installed.

Re: PSP X8 Download Edition Running Both 32 and64 bit
The problem is that 64bit version does not support some of the plug-ins. They only show up in 32bit version. One would thing that they would have ported all the plug-ins to 64bit. 32bit version is a lot slower.LeviFiction wrote:You should be able to, yes. My copy has both 32-bit and 64-bit installed.

Who is "they"? How can Corel port plug-ins made by third party companies from 32 bit to 64 bit, particularly if those plu-ins have never been made in 64 bit versions?JackL wrote:One would think that they would have ported all the plug-ins to 64bit.

Re: PSP X8 Download Edition Running Both 32 and64 bit
During the Black Friday sales pitches I purchased PSP X8 download version and it installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit. At first I ran into a little problem. The 32-bit edition would not open. I kept getting an error message.
Corel Paint Shop Pro.exe Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point crtCreateSymbolic'sLinkW cannot be located in dynamic link library C\\Windows\system 32\MSVCP110.DLL.
I was able to solve the problem by accessing another computer, and coping the MsVCP110.DLL file from the Windows system 32 folder and pasting to the system 32 folder of my computer and it worked like a charm.

Re: PSP X8 Download Edition Running Both 32 and64 bit
Ken it is possible JackL is referring to the plugins supplied by Corel. For example KPT is still 32-bit only. I have often wondered why KPT was not made available in 64-bit as well. Of course most of the rest of the plugins provided directly by Corel are usuallly third-party extras so there is little they can do about those. And next to nothing they can do about plugins users get for themselves. To get third-party plugins into 64-bit they would have to make a separate 32-bit host program that can run 32-bit plugins and then have PSP perform a cross-program communication to send image data to get 32-bit plugins to run from 64-bit PSP. Technically doable. But would probably be a bit unstable.

Re: PSP X8 Download Edition Running Both 32 and64 bit
Hi, of course you can. The purchase always contains both of 32bit and 64bit PSPX8 version for downloading. You can still continue to work your plugin (32bit) with PSPX8 as usual. Btw, you also can download a PSPX8 32bit trial version for trying before you proceed with the purchase. See screenshot below. When you download the 64bit version and you can find a 32bit version of download link in the "Thank you for Downloading" page. Check it.longjohnd wrote:Hello!

Thank you for your post and especially for the included image. It exactly answered my question about how to install Kai Power Tools in the trial version!josephlin wrote:...Btw, you also can download a PSPX8 32bit trial version for trying before you proceed with the purchase.
