I have Video Studio X7 Ultimate right now. I use it much less than I though I would, but it's still not a waste. Today it looks like PSP X8 is a good upgrade and I usually keep PSP and VS up to date at the same version.
How do you all feel about Video Studio X8 Ultimate? Should I jump or should I wait until I have an actual project to work on?
By the way, it looks like the Corel store was changed and not for the better. There seems to be no way to load my shopping cart with multiple items. Instead, I have to enter all my personal information by hand for each item I want to buy and do it in multiple transactions. Maybe this is due to these purchases being "upgrades", but whatever the reason...yuck!

Re: Considering an upgrade to VS X8 Ultimate
Hi Brian.
Yeah, I saw that comparison chart earlier. I'm not really asking for an analysis on new features. As you say I should be the one to decide that.
But new features are only a small part of the story when considering any upgrade. I guess I'm just asking for anybody's "totality of experience" for VSU X8.
In addition to including their opinions on the new features (opinions and observations are valuable to me), I'd like to know what folks think of their experience with changed commands, modified UI elements, whether or not any features were disabled or eliminated (intentionally or not), and how the software performs. Is it significantly slower? Or faster? Overall, or just during certain operations? And yes, how many bugs they've run into.

Re: Considering an upgrade to VS X8 Ultimate
It's all in the nature of your workload, your spec at 64G ram and your beast GPU's are one of a kind in the forum.
I'm using X8 with just 4GB ram, and gt430 (with just 96 cuda's).
But on the other hand X8U is just 45$ on amazon now, so it's not much of a brainier.
(I don't think VS knows what to do with 64GB ram)

Re: Considering an upgrade to VS X8 Ultimate
My typical long projects (60min and up) are simple, just trims, few titles, transitions and some sound work. No problem.
My typical more complex ones are much shorter (up to 10 min max) so I manage.
I'm not in any hurry, all my output is to WMV's.
I shoot HD mts files mostly at ~9MB and rarely at 13mb. Never got a customer complaint.
