Question: how to copy the color and tone of an image?
One of the things I would like to be able to do as a photographer is to use the color and tone of one image to color one or more other images. Doeas anybody know how to do this in Paint SHop Pro? Or perhaps there is a plugin?

I don't know of a PSP way around the issue. But I have done the same thing with Photomatix. Simply open a photo that you are interested in and create a preset. That preset 'should' then be applied to any other photo. It's a while since I did this and I may have missed something but it's worth a try.

gbotes I may have sent you up a garden path. On recollection I may have done it with a Topaz plugin. I'll do some homework and get back to you.

Thanks brucet. I appreciate your reply. I suspect, then, that it must be Topaz Labs Restyle if Google is leading me right.

OK I've figured it out. I used Topaz ReStyle. Simply open up the photo you wish to 'copy' the style of. Save that as a preset. Then apply that preset to any other photo. Caution is that the end result be be affected by the colours contained in each photo. So don't expect magic but you can get close.

Are there examples from other image programs you can point us to? Obviously PSP does not have any built in options for this but I have no idea what you're asking for so I can't even begin to come up with ideas for replicating the effect.

Here's my take on it.
Google JessicaJenny. You will see her work has a very 'interesting' 'look'. To 'copy' that look can be difficult. So I copied one of her photos onto my computer. Then opened PSPx7. Loaded the photo. Then opened Topaz ReStyle. Saved it as a preset. Then closed Topaz ReStyle. Opened another photo, opened ReStyle and applied the newly saved preset to that photo. Works!! But as I said earlier. The results will be subject to the colours in the photos you are trying to change.

In addition to Topaz ReStyle, if you have Topaz photoFXlab, the Instatone effects will also do this.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Re: Question: how to copy the color and tone of an image?
Thank you, Kathy_9 and brucet. You've helped me a lot by pointing me towards Topaz. LeviFiction, I believe Photoshop has Match Colors that is able to copy the color and tone of of an image onto another. Gimp also has a script you can download that allows you to copy one image's histogram onto another image (http://www.silent9.com/blog/archives/16 ... Match.html).
