I get this error-message:
No capture driver is avaible in the system [13011:2:1]
What IS a capture driver and what do I do? I've downloaded a driver called something like WDM Capture driver and installed it - but I get the same error...?

Thank you for the warning. The problem is that I don't know what kind of details is nessecary... What I'm trying to do is getting the film from my digital video-camera (Sony DCR-HC14E) into my computer so that I can edit the films. I found MovieFactory on a CD-rom in a magazine and thought i sounded just like the thing for me. So I have installed the try-version - but intended to buy the programme if it was good. But since I can't even get started it's impossible to say - and as far as I can read on this site, ulead only supports if it's a bought version, not on the try-version. But it seems a little foolished to buy a programme, if I don't know if it could work on my computer at all...

Since you are trying the trial versions and plan to edit the video I would
try VideoStudio9 trial version first. That product is geared more for
editing while MovieFactory is geared more for DVD production.
You can use VideoStudio to edit the video then use MovieFactory to
burn and create a DVD.
But, VideoStudio also has a burning module so you can do the complete
project from start to finish.
I would also print out the top sticky post on the VideoStudio Forum page
for help with recording and burning.
Download VideoStudio9 trial and install that.
Make sure your camcorder is connected using the "Firewire" port into
your computer (Not USB, USB is only for pictures from the SD card)
unless you have a new camcorder but even then use the firewire port
and not the USB port.
Make sure windows is recognizing the camcorder. If windows doesn't
show "Found New Hardware" when you plug the cam in then somethings
wrong.
The information to suppy at almost any forum is the following:
Operating system (Win98, WinME,windows2000, XP)
Computer Spec's (processor speed, memory, harddisk size).
Your source material: Camcorder Make & Model etc.
Name and Version of the program your running (MF2.5/MF3/MF4).
How the camcorder is connected to the computer.
Describe in detail exactly what your doing.
Describe the error message.
Hope this helps,

Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80 GHz AT/AT COMPATIBLE 490.224 KB RAM
80 GB harddrive
Camcorder: Sony DCR-HC14E
MovieFactory 4.0 - try-version
The camcorder is connected via the USB port - didn't know there were any other ways. Don't know what a firewire is or where to find the port...?
I select 'Create video DVD' and then 'Add media' and then the error message 'No capture driver is avaible in the system [13011:2:1]' shows up. I downloaded, unzipped and installed a file called VDMCapDrv211.zip but MF still can't find any capture driver on my computer.
I hope this is what you ask for - and I'm sorry for being so ignorant...
yeah you wont be able to capture video from the tape via the USB port. your only option is firewire. check you PC if you have a firewire port (search google or your PC manufacturer). if you have one, all you need is a firewire cable to connect the camcorder and your pc.
**by the way, be sure you camcorder has a firewire port also...
the file VDMCapDrv211.zip is probably a device driver for your camera to make it work with the bundled software.
