Enable Smart Proxy Option?
I was wondering what the pros and cons are to selecting the Smart Proxy option. Should it be enabled?

If you are using the computer listed in your profile, and editing AVCHD high def video in particular, I would say you have no choice. But if you are editing standard def video, no.

Also, when I'm setting my proxy settings, can i choose to save the proxy files in my external hard drive instead of my computer and still have it work correctly?

Under "Settings >> Smart Proxy Manager >> settings" you can choose any location at all on your system to store proxy files.
