Hello,
I'm confused about all the file extensions and their purposes pertaining to VS6. I don't really get the reason for all the different ones like, .upx,
To be specific, I'm making videos and I have a few that I haven't edited yet but they're using valuable space on my already taxed hard-drive memory space.
What I'm trying to do now is move the videos from my computer hard drive to my external hard-drive and still be able to edit my videos.
I'm asking especially about the .upx files which seem to be the culprits taking up my hard-drive space. But I'm also wondering about how the whole process works so I can understand it so I don't have to keep asking and researching this. I can't seem to find a tutorial that addresses these issues. If anyone knows of a tutorial, please let me know, or explain it for me.
Thank you.

Did you do a google search on "Corel upx files"? There are several hits that explain what they are. Here is link to one thread in this forum:http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38967
Anyway, upx files are created because you have enabled the SmartProxy option. Perhaps reading the manual will help you to understand proxy files

Re: Understanding VS6 file extensions
Thanks but I just checked the user guide and it doesn't mention anything about files or file extensions. So here I am spending a whole lot of valuable time trying to get over another hurdle.
Actually my question is a lot more involved than that. My main concern is weather I can move these files to my external hard-drive so I can free up space on my already taxed internal HD.
Thanks

The .upx files are the smart proxy files - just delete them all - if you put a video in the timeline which requires a proxy file it will just regenerate it.
under "Settings >> Smart proxy manager >> Smart proxy file manager" is the option to select and delete proxy files from your HDD
also under "Settings >> Smart proxy manager >> settings" is the option to send the proxy files anywhere you want on your system .

Re: Understanding VS X6 file extensions
Thank you, Brian.
I was afraid if I deleted them, then the next time I opened a video to the timeline, I would see that re-link error message. I did some research last night, so your answer makes sense enough for me to understand what you mean.
Also, I really need to understand the settings to set up the proxy options under the performance tab. Some people said they don't use the default settings for those.
Anyway, Thanks again!

Re: Understanding VS X6 file extensions
I have never changed any of those settings - I just use the default
