Any way to turn off the giant main title bar in PSP X8?
I've been using PSP 5.0 (not X5!) until recently and trying to "restore" the current X8 version to the old looks as much as possible. I already turned on multi-window mode and rearranged the toolbars as much as possible.
What is still glaring in my eye is the much too high main window tool bar with its 3 hard-to-miss (and sometimes orange) button labelled "Manage", "Adjust" and "Edit" that eats away from my work space. I don't know what is the purpose of this but it needs to go!
I can turn off every single toolbar, even the menu bar, but not this. I only found "full screen mode" which however (obviously) doesn't allow me to use the program in a window anymore (as for copy & pasting stuff etc). I'm looking for a hack (registry key?) to turn off the title bar at any time, or at least turn it back into a standard normal-sized Windows toolbar without these giant tabs, as in previous versions. Any ideas?

I like to have Manage. I open all my images from my camera in there and decide which I want to edit etc. It's also good for viewing many images on the PC and that's just to name a couple.
Adjust is excellent for making adjustments to photographs, however, I can do that just as easily in Edit. I would prefer we just had Manage and Edit.
I always open with the Edit workspace and you can set this when doing customisation. I really can't say that the three tabs cause me any visual problems.

They must have changed Full Screen Mode (Shift + A) in X8 then. In X6, it only removes the top title bar and all of the menus, editing tools and toolbars are still available. You can also have multiple images open in un-tabbed mode. To free up even more space, you can toggle the status bar on and off. I have a bound script on my toolbar to toggle both of them off and on whenever I want.

Linda, X8 also looks like that. They said full screen did work. But the complaint was that full screen makes it harder for them to switch between programs for the purposes of copy and paste. They want it to be smaller than full screen but not taking up so much space for non-essential items. If I'm interpreting the problem correctly.

I didn't understand what they meant by "in a window". I thought they were talking about tabbed or un-tabbed images. I don't have any problem switching between programs when in Full Screen mode. I just use Alt+Tab to switch from one open program to another. I always keep my Windows task bar hidden so I can't access my programs that way so I use Alt+Tab all the time. If I need my task bar I can press the Windows key on the keyboard. Microsoft hasn't removed that feature from later versions of Windows have they?

Only WIndows 8 and 8.1 unless you have Classic Shell or Start 8 startmenu replacements installed. Windows 10 restored the option.

While a bit OT, I've used Classic Shell since Windows 7 (now on 8.1) and find it a great start menu replacement. It's much more customizable than the default start menu that came with 7 & 8 and is a joy to work with IMHO. And free to boot!LeviFiction wrote:Only WIndows 8 and 8.1 unless you have Classic Shell or Start 8 startmenu replacements installed. Windows 10 restored the option.

I must not be the only user with this complaint as another poster has created a mockup eliminating the waste of space in X8 (full screen or windowed) in the X9 wishlist thread:
