Appalled by DVD Pictureshow 3
I bought Ulead DVD Pictureshow 3 Deluxe two days ago, installed it then downloaded and installed the available update patch.
Since then, I have tried many times to make a slide show and burn it to DVD, these range in size from 8 slideshows with approx 50 pictures each, down to a single slideshow with just 10 pictures.
The only slideshow I have been successful with is the smallest, and I only made one this small to test if the program would actually work at all.
The program has crashed on every other project, and before it crashed it was so incredibly slow.
To say I am dissappointed would be an understatement.
The machine it is running on is not an ancient one either, 80gb HD with over 45gb free, 2400 AMD Athlon with 512 mb ram so I dont think the hardware can be the cause.
I think I am calling PC World tomorrow to see what their returns policy is.

The problems I have been having are that the program has been crashing while building the slideshows, it never gets to the burning the DVD stage !!!Rick F wrote:However not being one to give up easily , one post I read , Solved part of my problem , It suggested to burn to a DVD-RW disc and especially "FORMAT THE DISK" is important, which I did not know? I was succesful in completing the burn without a "freeze"

I called the shop where I bought this product today, PC World in Manchester, to ask about returning this for a refund. They confirmed what I already expected, that they will not allow this item to be returned unless the actual CD is physically faulty, and then it would only be for an exchange and not a refund.
So, unless Ulead themselves are going to be helpful about this with either a refund or an actual product that works, it looks like I have bought myself two more CD's that can only be used as table mats for drinks.
COME ON ULEAD - SORT IT OUT !!!

I am having the same problems with burning either into a DVD or image file.
It consistently freezes when rendering/processing slideshow #3.
I have emailed ULEAD 2 days ago but have not gotten a response yet.
As mentioned on an earlier post, the trial version works flawlessly.
I was able to burn my picture & video slideshow with no problems.
So it turns out the trial is better than the full version.
Has anyone heard from ULEAD about these problems?
Has anyone tried to get a refund of this product if purchased via ULEAD mall download?

Tech support was advertised as closed until 5th January
Notice the size of the slideshows - in version 3 they are huge [3gb] the same project in version 2 [0.3gb]
This is the problem with me, the work is 10 times bigger on v3, so you can only fit on the DVD 1/10 of what I can with version 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have reverted to using version 2 now!

My situation is that when I try to burn into a DVD+RW, an error message will pop up in the converting process, after several unsuccessful attemps then I check the "Format DVD+RW" option on the output options dialog box, this time it works.
But when I try to burn into a DVD-R disc, the error will pop up in the writing-to-disc process.
I have filled the support form and hope ULEAD can find out the cause and release a patch for this problem.
By the way, if you have installed 16X DVD Burning Pack, you can uninstall it, they told me so far DPS3 has problem with this pack, they will release a new pack instead...

Don't hold your breath for technical support.
I've been working with these guys for 3 weeks. As I mentioned in other posts the support has been terrible. Here is today's reply. My problem is crashes during the disc imaging stage among others.

This is the very same cookbook answer I was given 3 weeks ago. I guess they just work thru the cook book and then it is back to the begining recipe. BTW, apparently if the program will work on one computer then its good. I guess everyone here has an unstable computer...it really shortens development time if you only need to get the software to work on a single computer system.Sorry for the inconvenience. The described scenario is not normal. There should be no problems using the software on Windows XP as long as the system requirements are met. Based on experience, these types of problems can be solved by uninstalling and then reinstalling your software. Please make sure to logon as Administrator before installing your software to avoid restrictions. And it is also recommended that you restart your computer after every installation. You can also try installing the software on another computer and if it works normally then this proves that there is nothing wrong with your software. The problem may be caused by computer is already unstable or some other programs are causing conflicts andrestrictions within your system.

The customer support agents are in a difficult position and I think every here who is complaining are aware that they can only say what they are told to say.angrakiller wrote:As my understanding, those customer support agents really can’t do much to solve bugs, what they can do is report to the programming department and wait for solution or a patch.
After all they are not programmer, and they all work under the pressure of users’ anxiety and anger.
The real culprit is ULEAD who have put out a piece of software riddled with bugs.
