HI everyone.
I'm actually making this post for a friend of mine, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. He has VS 7 Ultimate and VS 8.5 Ultimate installed, Windows 7 64bit with 16gb ram, I7 CPU. This issue has just started.
He like to burn his DVD's via the ACVHD option under 'share', previously this worked without any problems but now when he does it on either VS 7 or VS8.5 the audio track breaks up when played back. If he just burns a normal DVD (not acvhd) then everything is fine. If we output files to ACVHD folder then that plays fine as well, so I'm hoping to get some ideas of where to look.
Could it be the DVD/BR burner?
Could it be a strange codec that stuck on the system?
Thanks
(P.S. He is also having the problem (now) that when starting to render an ACVHD project to disc the program locks up at 3% rendering forcing a ctrl-alt-delete to shut it down. Apparently it only does this with an ACVHD project.)
Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.

Re: Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.
If your friend makes a successful AVCHD folder, why does he not just burn that folder to disc. I know VS cannot do it, but a number of programs will, including the commercial Nero, Roxio and Ashampoo suites; and also the freeware (and excellent!) ImgBurn.
But taking a step back, does your friend first convert the project to a new AVCHD after editing, or does he jump straight into the burning module? I suspect the latter since that is what often causes problems like this. Get him to try it my way. That way you produce a new AVCHD, then open the burning module. If there is anything in its timeline, delete it and manually insert the new AVCHD file and proceed from there.

Thanks Ken,
Yes, he sets up his timeline then goes to 'share', 'ACVHD', then burn to disc.
The problem is that that is the way he has 'always done it' therefore it will be an uphill battle to get him to try it differently. Especially when I can't explain to him why it will no no longer work that way.
(If you know what I mean? )
I'll get back to him in the next day or two and report back.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.
Suggest that if he "Shares" to file, he will have a copy to burn to additional disks or for a replacement disk in the future. He can also archive the file for future use.
Also this intermediate step means that he can check his video before burning and so save a disk being trashed!!

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.
Hi
When we burn a standard DVD disc we have to use a Mpeg2 compliant video file.
If we do Share Create Disc – DVD
The project is opened within the burner module.
The program will automatically render the project to do that during the burning process.
After pressing Burn you will see Convert Titles, this render is creating the Mpeg2 to be used to burn a disc.
Sometimes rendering here has caused problems with the disc quality, or the burning process fails.
We can create that compliant video file by doing Share Create Video File choosing Mpeg2 properties. Hopefully the render will complete ok, if that fails then there is a problem with the projects content.
The resultant file can be played to check quality and then used to burn the disc,
How….
Start a new project- nothing in the timeline Share Create Disc – dvd opens the burner module.
Here we add our Compliant video file. Top left Add Media Add Video file
When we hit the Burn button the process starts with Convert Menu, there is no Convert Title as we are using the compliant file.
Burning is quicker.
To burn a AVCHD
The above should be used to burn a Avchd disc, but first rendering to AVCHD not mpeg2.
The overall processes take the same time to complete

Thanks for the replies. I have suggested that he does what you have recommended. In the meantime he has been in contact with Corel support and they suggested the same thing. Nevertheless he INSISTS that as he has 'always' done it his way he should still be able to do so and therefore he wants me to uninstall and reinstall VideoStudio *sigh*. I'll report back with the results.

Re: Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.
Hi
Thanks for the feedback and good luck
Re-installing should not cause any problems.
A long time ago Ulead as it were then first allowed us to burn the project to a disc, this automatically rendered the project prior to burning the disc.
A lot of users had problems and were advised to first render the project from the main timelines.
I would suspect a problem with the project, maybe a corrupt file? If so then it will always fail when trying to burn the disc.
You will have at some point to take a step backwards to test the project.
Rendering from the timeline may also fail, but at least you should be able to identify the culprit.
Hopefully re-installing will do the trick.
By the way I always create a video file first whether it be for DVD or Bluray discs

Re: Audio cracks up when burning ACVHD to disc.
OK I reinstalled everything last night and he burned up a brand new project. The process didn't lock up as previously and went right through to completion (using 'share' 'avchd' 'burn to disc') yet he still had the problem of audio breaking up on playback? So I took the DVD's home and played them on my OPPO BR player and they all work fine. So after all that the main problem seems to be his BR/DVD player. It will play a disc that he burned back in August no problems but not any recent ones? Weird.
So thanks again for the assist.
