Selections>Invert on the menu bar using the mouse you are already using does the same thing and only takes one hand and one finger on that hand to do the clicking. And you don't have to go back to the mouse to continue your work because you still have it in hand. :-)
um, no ... three fingers on left hand (actually 2 fingers and thumb) cover the combo while right hand remains on mouse.
On my keyboard the "I" is more than 6 inches from the Crtl key, and the Shift key is immediately above the Ctrl key. I can barely stretch my hand with my little finger on the Ctrl key so that my thumb reaches the "I" key. And even to achieve that requires quite a bit of acrobatics - I have to bend my wrist waaayy to the left and shift my chair waaay to the right and can't properly press the shift key at all. Maybe I have extremely small hands? :-)

My hands are fairly normal sized for an average 5'10" individual. And I also would have a hard time doing Ctrl + Shift + i with a single hand. Of course, removing my hand from my mouse is no issue as it doesn't really slow me down a lot. And if necessary I can change my shortcut to be faster with a single hand. Still, all of these are side issues compared to what the OP is saying they experience.
