I have set all the necessary settings to copy a VHS video to my PC via VSX8 using a Dazzle 100 capture hardware. If I use the Dazzle software I can only draw off 142 minutes with it set at Best.
I prefer VSX8 and as I said above, all settings and duration are set. My capture gets so far then I see a pop up, 'Unable to capture the file because it is copyright protected.' I don't understand why this is happening as the VHS is a home video and has no copyright attached. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.

Re: VSX6 Pro - capturing
Unfortunately, the Dazzle is one of many capture devices tweaked to work only with the software provided with it for capture. In other words, VS won't work with it. So all I can suggest is that you capture with the Dazzle software, if necessary in two parts, and then edit/join the parts in VS.

Re: VSX6 Pro - capturing
Hi Maureen
What is causing the 142 minute limit, what is the size of the captured file?
I don’t see a reason for a limit on capture other than a fat32 filing system which would limit the file to 4Gb, just a thought………..

Re: VSX6 Pro - capturing
Hi lata,
It's the Dazzle 100 that has the 142 limit at 'Best'. If I go 'Better' then it's even less. I suppose if I had a capture card in my PC I wouldn't need Dazzle. Dazzle software is quite limited.
When I try to use VSX6 I get the copyright message popup which is sooooooo annoying because there is no copyright. Ken explained above why it's doing this so it looks like I'm stuck with Dazzle and just do the editing in VSX6.
I was thinking of upgrading to X8 but think I'll wait a little while.
