Paintshop ProX6 changing date pic was taken

My Paintshop is changing the date stamp of when my pictures were taken (to 9/13/15.... for whatever reason).
The date is correct on the files in my SC card....after processing in Paint Shop Pro 6...the "taken" dates are changed to 9/13/15.
Anybody have this same/similar issue?

I checked a number of images with X6 - all of them showed the same date for created, original and digitized and appear to be the correct created date. Using other software I can see that the images have correct information about software that modified the image and the date of the last modification. Too bad that PSP does not show that date - why not substitute the last modified for "digitzed"?

I went one step further and found images that I had edited in X6. EXIF showed the correct dates and times, for example, created in March 2013 and last modified in January 2014.

I copy my images from the data card into a directory on the computer using a card reader, I don't use PSP for the downloading. I wonder if that is the difference why the dates are not altered. My preference (maybe I like to think I'm in control) is not to use any program such as PSP, HP or Picasa to decide for me how the transfer will be handled. What process do you use for getting the images from the camera to the computer?

I used direct from SD card direct to Paint Shop...downloaded from card to computer then onto Paint Shop...etc.
I did some digging and the two images the (for this new) issue has occurred involved my layering a background under an image time stamped 9/13/15 under an image time stamped 10/31/15. I then erased the background on the 10/31/15 image and used the 9/13/15 image as the new background.
It seems somehow in the process the new image gets time stamped 9/13/15 after the merge is saved.
Irritating because it messes up my "Date taken" sort feature on Flickr.
