I don't see the tabs for trays anymore in the Organizer palette. I have the option of adding a tray, which is named "My Tray" by default. But when I add it, the old tray disappears, and a blank strip appears where the old tray was. I can't drag & drop anything to the new tray because the old tray is gone. Has anybody experienced this too?
What to do?
Where are the trays?

Re: Where are the trays?
Click on that downward point arrow in the far top right of the Organizer, then tick Tray. A new strip appears with the old tray and the new tray side by side. If you click on the former, all your original photos in the Organizer will be there.

Thanks so much, Ken. That did the trick.

Re: Where are the trays?
I've experienced exactly the same problem with the trays that awm03 has encountered, but with one important difference---I can create new trays and populate them with "drag & drop," so they look exactly like they did before the SP! upgrade---which destroyed all my old trays. THEN, when I restart PSPx8, most of the newly created trays USUALLY disappear again. Sometimes they leave one or two thumbs which look and work pefectly. Other times they leave more than 20 images, but nothing like the hundreds of images I had indexed before the upgrade. This latest upgrade effectively killed the organizer on my 64 bit machine, and caused loss of databases it took me years to build. For whatever reason, perhaps memory management, the organizer never SAVES any changes I make to it. I will likely never use another COREL product again, even though I have very successfully used each and every issue of this program up through PSPX8. This upgrade appears to not have been ready, and I cannot uninstall and recreate a version in which the organizer works as it used to prior to the upgrade. All ideas much appreciated.

I've used trays over many versions of PSP and have never had one "disappear". This may be a unique problem. Have you tried resetting PSP? To do that save your workspace for use later, close PSP and press the shift key when you restart.poweruser wrote:I've experienced exactly the same problem with the trays that awm03 has encountered, but with one important difference---I can create new trays and populate them with "drag & drop," so they look exactly like they did before the SP! upgrade---which destroyed all my old trays. By "indexed" do you mean images you have placed in trays you created? Unfortunately, PSP only retains images in the trays between sessions that are in folders that you have added to Collections. If the images are from folders that are in Computer but not Collections they are wiped out when PSP closes. I've complained about this for years but no changes yet. Knowing this, I adapt my strategy for organization within these limitations. I use the trays only as temporary storage, for example to organize and compare images from different folders.Sometimes they leave one or two thumbs which look and work perfectly. I have SP1 installed and see little change from the initial X8. Yes, some things were broken but I do not see changes to Manage mode or Organizer. Can you expand on what changes to you have made that worked before? What are your expectations that are not being met? How did the organizer work in the past that it does not now? This latest upgrade effectively killed the organizer on my 64 bit machine, and caused loss of databases it took me years to build. Re: Where are the trays?
I can't make my Trays retain my selection either.
I make a selection from a folder on my PC and drag these to a newly made named Tray; close X8 and on opening again ALL my selection from my named Tray have gone! Tedious.
Is there a SAVE Tray control that I need to "check"?
Please help me, before I pull out my remaining 2 dozen hairs on my scalp.

Re: Where are the trays?
I think there are two issues raised here. poweruser complains that the trays disappear between sessions - I've never experienced that and know nothing about a fix.Grazie wrote:I can't make my Trays retain my selection either.

Grazie is complaining about the content of a tray disappearing; that is something many of us are familiar with.
In Manage mode under navigator there are two selections for folders, Collections and Computer. Computer provides access to all folders in the hard drive whereas the user has to bring the folder he/she wants to use (most frequently accessed) into Collections. Unfortunately, images brought into trays from the two sources are handled differently by PSP. If you drag images from folders in Computer that are not included in Collections, those images disappear when PSP is closed. If, on the other hand, the images come from a folder that is included in Collections those images are retained in a tray between sessions. We have complained for some time about this but still no change.
What I like about trays is that you can group images from many folders and that you can change the order at will.

Yes, that worked. Thank you Mark.MarkZ wrote:If you drag images from folders in Computer that are not included in Collections, those images disappear when PSP is closed.
