Canon 5DSR still not supported - WOW now supported

Post by Smart58 »

Hello
I have more than 15'000 photos I should be working on and the RAW of Canon 5DSR is still not supported. Does any one now if Aftershot PRO will do so or should I now after 6 months waiting change product (this after 10 years experience)

Smart

PS: also have 4000 photos which were made with Canon G3X waiting to be processed

Nice camera :-).

I assume you are using this with the lens correction feature? Have you tried setting the model to 5DIII and use the lens correction feature? Does it work as expected?

If it does, I think there is a quick way for you to add 5DSR to the auto selection pretty easily.

Well - LoL
First one should be able to see the "Preview" and then be able to work on the Photos
But the photos do not get recognized at all, both for the Canon 5DSR as well as for G3X

I hope Corel will get that fixed real soon

Oh I see. The CR2 format is now different and you can't open it in Aftershot ?

Yes - that's it. I am now looking at other product as most of them do support the 5DSR and some the G3X from Canon. It seams that after a long period (I know most bugs and nearly all functions of Bibble/Aftershot) its time to leave. The new Interface is also not so pleasing and has downgraded the product. I am not alone, in many forums you can read that now. I also miss NINJA....

I understand. It is a fair stance to make. I don't know the old interface to make a comparison to. I only know Adobe LR and found AS to be similar.

How is Ninja comparing to Wavelet Denoise?

I did some research and it looks like Noise Ninja is not better than Wavelet Denoise.

Also, Corel released Aftershot 2.3 today with support for 5DSR :D

New UPDATE with support of 5DR and 5DRS - Yes, did my first tests and am happy, will check ofer the weekend and then if all stable i will ATTACK my 18'000 photos which were shoot in Namibia/Botswana and Zimbabwe.

In the last days I did have a serious try with DxO OpticsPro 10. The only one which I found to be giving the results I was looking for as I work strictly file-based.

Now lets see how long it takes to get that G3X RAW to be shown on my screen. Most stunt photos - LoL, well photos where I needed a small camera in my hand, where shoot with that camera. A nice camera with very good handling, super optics but no manual, hands on, focus or zoom operation possible.

I found some issues in working with Canon 5Ds files:
- Maximum number of Multi-Image views for stable operation: 2
- Multi-Image view is very slow to open (pre-opening images does not help)

My configurations:
(laptop)Intel i7/10G/Fedora 22/x64
(work computer)Intel i7 (intel openCL activated)/12G/Fedora 22/x64
(home computer)Intel i5+GTX 970(openCL activated on GTX 970)/16G/Fedora 22/x64

I tried to process more 5Ds files and I found out, that AfterShotPro process takes about 50MB more memory every time I open another 5Ds file and and is getting very slow quite fast (even if the ASP process is just 2.4G (of of 16G ram).
