PSP X8 Problem Uploading Photos

Post by cheryl »

I just installed PSP X8 on both my old computer and new laptop and having problems uploading photos on the laptop. I'm using a Sony a3000 camera, although I don't think that's the problem. When I download photos on my old computer, which is still running Windows7, my photos go straight to my default program, PaintshopPro X8. On my laptop, which has Windows 10, I have PaintshopPro as the default, but when I connect the camera, I get a pop up to choose the device, either F:/ or PMHOME. When I choose F:/, I get a pop-up to start importing and it gives me the option where I want to import. After that I get another pop-up and the photos go into a 'Collections' folder in Photos. I then have to open up PSP. Sometimes they are in a folder and other times I have to manually import them into the program. I'm trying to figure out how to have the photos go straight into PSP without having to go through hoops and hoping someone might be able to tell me what to do. I believe the problem is Windows10 and not PSP, but clueless as to what I need to do to fix it.

Did you configure default programmes on your PC for photos to open in PSP?

Open Control Panel, Default Programmes then set your default programmes.

Hi...yes, I have the default set to Paintshop Pro, but the Photos app still interferes with the uploads.

I would suggest that you just use windows to load the images to the folders of your choice and then make copies of those to use in PSP and so preserve your originals.

I was really trying to avoid that, but it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. Windows 10 does not make things easy. Thanks!
