I was making a video and it failed at 99%, consistently. I found a work around by selecting the partially rendered video and then cutting it out from the total in VideoStudio Pro X8.5. to process the remainder in VideoStudio. Doing this sequentially gave me three clips which was the total project. What a way to make a movie! I joined the clips and compeleted the project. Then, I went to make a smart package and got this message: "The timeline contains one or more invalid clips. This action is not allowed."
What a surprise. Most were jpg, M2TS,GIF,AVI and MOV files. No indication of the file types was given

Re: Invalid Clips
Hi pepegota
Strange, I doubt we can help without seeing the project.
You can only delete each type in turn, then try to Smart Package.
I would Save As to create a copy of the VSP whilst testing?
Go to Preferences and set Clip Display Mode to File Name Only to help id the types.
Start with the least types, maybe that SWF.
Otherwise have you added multiple filters to one of the clips, sometimes they can cause problems, speed / timelapse etc
By the way, by mistake you have not added VSP’s to the timeline – nesting- just a thought?

Re: Invalid Clips
As this is the first and hopefully the last time this happens, I will let it pass. Since I was able to complete the project by stealth, that is good enough. Thanks for the input.

Re: Invalid Clips
Actually your so called "stealth" method of creating a final movie is my preferred method. I always edit/create separate clips and then later join them to a longer movie. It is much much easier and more efficient to work on smaller segments then on the whole project in one go. That way you do not have to rerender any segments that are not changed.

Re: Invalid Clips
I do it clip by clip too, but when it's a 10 minute project there is no reson to do it unless, you run into a problem as alluded to above.
