Lost "Collapse All Layers" command button.

Post by rx65m »

I seriously beg for any help you guys can bring to this problem:
I was customizing my already-very-customized workspace, trying to locate in a different position my "Collapse All Layers" command button, when I accidentally lost it. I really never noticed when or how, otherwise I have never saved my precious and very detailed workspace.
Unfortunately, this command button is not in the customizing commands lists.
I have tried several options during last 5 days, and I have find no way to recover it.
Is there any way to recover this command button without having to create a new workspace from scratch?
Is there any trick? Maybe editing the .PspWorkspace file? Or perhaps finding a way to open 2 instances of Corel PaintShop Pro.exe (to hopefully copy it or move it, from one workspace to another)?
Is there a way to export palletes or menus from one workspace to another?
Once we finally have this wonderful command, I can't believe I was so unaware to notice my mistake before saving my workspace.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Eva.

(I hope my English was good enough to make my self clear. Please forgive my mistakes.)

Hi,

When you say 'collapse all layers' I assume you mean 'merge all layers'? If not, please disregard the rest of this post.

All layer commands are accessible from the customize dialogue, Commands tab (leftmost tab), Layers category.
Available commands in the right pane of that tab are in the same order as on the original 'Layers' menu and its sub-menus.

Another option could be to open the context menu in the customize dialogue: click on the Menu tab (4th tab in English). On the left side you see a reset button for the whole application> DON'T click that. On the right you see Context Menu - those are the menus that show up when you right-click somewhere. Select the 'Layer' context menu in the drop down menu, and you should find the merge command there. You can copy that (ctrl+drag) elsewhere and customize it to show only the image. If it's not there (you dragged it from there accidentally) click on the Reset button under the selection drop down to reset it to default.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your kindness, dear Forriner.
No, I actually mean the new Command: "Collapse All Layers" which actually collapse (not merge) all the sublayers within layers groups. It was a very often requested feature during years, maybe since the Jasc versions. The new X8 version finally has it, in the upper left corner of the layers pallete. There are 3 new command buttons to work with layers:
- Show/Hide Quick Search
- Collapse All Layers
- Expand All Layers

Thank you again for your warm help and kindness.
Eva.

Open the Customize Dialog

View -> Customize

Select the "Toolbars" tab

Select "Layer Palette Option Toolbar" and then click the "Reset" button. It'll reset only that one toolbar back to factory defaults.
