possible to move plugins from PSP x4 to PSP x8?

Post by comma54 »

I am not computer literate, so please bear with me! Also I am a very basic user of PSP - mainly enjoying the easy things like cleaning up old photos and using frames for simple graphics on my family history blog.

I moved to win 10 from win 8 and my PSP x4 stopped working. After some difficulty trying to use the PSP x8 trial, Corel very kindly did a deal for me and a great price, and I now have PSP x8. However, the frames and edges selection is very, very basic - nothing that I want to use. I still have my PSP 4 on my old laptop. Can I move files for the frames and edges from there to my new PSP x8? and how do I grab the right ones, if this is possible?

For anyone else who is as PSP challenged as myself - I figured this out after a while. There is a post on the board - 'import from previous versions' or something like that. I used it.

I had a few issues - the laptop with my functioning psp x4 is so old, it has only one port that a memory stick could go into, and that was what I was using for my mouse....so abstracting the files from the old laptop directly or my memory stick would have been cumbersome.
However I figured that even if the old psp x4 didn't run on my win 10, the files would still be there, so I reinstalled it, got to the 09 frames folder and transferred them to a new folder in my documents and then added that to the psp x8 frames folder by using file, preferences, file locations. and it works! all my favourites are now functional. :)
