Blu-ray disk tab missing

Post by jkane6 »

Hello,

I have just installed Video studio X8 pro, 64 bit on windows 10, all seemed normal, (I've had there products for many years), anyway, when I go to produce a Blu-ray the tab is missing, so I can't create a Blu-ray disk (BD-R). the tutorial shows a tab but I don't have one, is there a upgrade or feature missing, the product is video studio ultimate x8, service pack 2.

basically when i get to share, the option for Blu-ray is not listed.

regards

Jeff

Did you pay for - download - and install the High-Def/Blu-ray Disc Plug-In for Videostudio X8 on the Corel site

No, sadness, figured the "ultimate" included Blu-ray, I had x3 prior to this, and if I remembered Blu-ray was a update pack. oh well, I was hoping it was simply the 64 bit did not have it.

thanks for the update.

X8 is the first version which has not included the disk burning function - we understand from Corel that a separate licence is required which Corel have paid for in previous versions - but now ask purchasers to pay for that licence.

I still have VS7 Pro Ultimate and I am about to buy the upgrade for VS8 or 8.5 - my current VS7 does contain the ability to burn Blu-ray - which I do use.

Can I be clear what is being said in the posts below - that VS8 does NOT contain the ability to burn Blu-ray ? Have I read that correctly ? And if that is the case, how much does any extra software cost and how/where do I get it ?

Thanks
John

You are reading correctly

Even if you already have bluray burning in X7 it will not be available in X8.5 unless you purchase the add-on software.

The software cost £5.99 GBP - (different in different countries) - and is offered to you on the corel.com website when you purchase your upgrade.

Many thanks Brian - at least I know now BEFORE finding out at the point of NEED - and then panicking - and the extra cost is not really an issue. Does it tell us during the purchase of VS8 that Blu-ray is no longer included - or are we expected to assume that if they proactively offer an "additional upgrade" ?

No it doesn't actually say until you get to the checkout - then the option is given to add it to your basket.
