Lens Correction: Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD (A007)

Post by dattanchu »

I would like support added for this lens Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD (A007). I followed the instruction http://inphotos.org/2012/03/15/adventur ... rshot-pro/ to add the following stanza to profile_genericSLR.txt (starting at line 566)

Code: Select all

begin lens
group: genericSLR
multiplier: 1.0
aperture: 2.8
menu_lens: Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD (A007)
cal_abc: 24 0.03519 -0.10395 0.06092
cal_abc: 35 0.01436 -0.0404 0.03983
cal_abc: 50 0.01112 -0.02223 0.02177
cal_abc: 70 0.00625 -0.00862 0.00987
end
When I restart ASP, the profile shows up in the huge dropdown. But it is not auto-picked. How can I make ASP auto-pick my lens from EXIF?

P.S. I decided to purchase X8 Ultimate after the 30-day trial instead of another photography package offering. So far so good. I do have a back-of-my-mind wondering if AS Pro OpenCL is faster. :( I wish X8 would just both pro and be THE PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE.

I found the way get ASP to recognize my lens and camera.

After adding the stanza above to generic SLR, I remove all other stanza in genericSLR aside from my set of lens (50mm, 85mm and Tamron SP 24-70 A007). I also remove all camera models from canonSLR file. Then I modify profile.txt file to include only these two files.

What this means is Aftershot Pro only has one choice under Manufacturer: Canon. And one choice under Model: Canon 5D Mark II. Then the lens option only has my collection of lens.

Reloading the EXIF on an image will correctly match the camera, model and lens to it.

If someone else find this useful, I can create an online utility to create one single profile file for your entire collection. Just leave a reply.

I've use this or a similar solution for some time - BUT ...
Take the time to make a backup of your amended files - they will be over written and replaced when ever you do an upgrade or re-install.
Just Copy them back after upgrades.
