Activiation problem when upgrading to 2.2.70

Post by robwa1709 »

Hello

I've been using AS PRo first on Ubuntu and more recently on Win 10 since March of this year. This week got the pop up to install to 2.2.70. Downloaded, installed it and it failed to activate (The serial number you are usising has been activated too many times).

Reinstalled 2.2.70, same error.

In the end rolled back to my orignal download (2.1.2.10) which activated fine.

Has anyone else seen a problem with activation with 2.2.70??

Whether it's relevant or not, the seriel number for 2.1.2.10 is actually longer then the serial number for 2.2.2.x (you can see this if you look under registered problems).

Had this issue three days as of today. When I first spotted it I raised a support incident on the web form asking for my activation count to be reset. Not heard a peep back about that one. One day 2, I tried to circumvent process by using webchat to ask someone from Corel to reset my count. They tried for 10 or 15 mins, said they couldn't (or it had failed or something, can't remember the exact words) and raised me a second case.

On day 3 I had to use AS Pro, so found my original download and managed to roll it back. If the roll back had been unsucessful, I'd be spitting feathers now, but being ignored does tend to annoy me a bit, particularly as I've purchased a license. Which means a contract exists between myself and Corel, who are not fullfilling their part by not allowing me to activate. Genuinly didn't mean to make this read as a rant, but wondered if anyone else was stuck in this state and what sucess you'd had in resolving it.

Cheers

RW

I have had enormous difficulties even registering ASP, when I bought the first version, and even with the recent upgrade to the most recent version. Just never got any indication of a Registry page, and when I tried registering on the Corel site -- where I have a more than 12 year and very long history -- it just would not work. That did not mean I have not been able to use the product, and I have to confess I don't recall ever being confronted with an activation page.

I did, however, draw my problem to the attention of Corel execs, and after some time, I have at last -- and at least!! -- been able to register the current version.

I will draw your situation to those execs again, and hopefully they may be able to work their magic for you too!!!

Thanks everyone.

The help is very much appreciated.

You've managed to convert me from Adobe software and I'm not shy about recommending what technology I like to folk. Since Buying aftershot, I've thrown away photoshop elements and moved to PSP.

This isn't solved yet. I work in Telecoms, so I understand the complexity of this sort of thing which means I'm more than willing to work with you guys to get to a root cause and get it fixed. I've made a couple of suggestions in my reply back to your support people that may help us in the that direction.

Kind Regards

Hello everyone

Two more weeks has passed and still no reply and still not able to active AS Pro when upgraded to 2.2.70.

I apologise up front that may read as a rant. But this stil hasn't been resolved and at this stage I beleive my serial number has been stolen.

Corel Support claimed I had activated this 30 times (!!!) and had hit the activation limit. So they increased the limit to 31.

This didn't work, this, I replied to the email statng so and I asked for evidence that the activations were from me (I asked for the IP addresses that had registered so that I could confirm they were from my ISP, therefore probably from me) or not.

I have received no answer to the above email.

The fact that Support had upped my count and I still wasn't able to activate (activation limit reached) suggests that someone else had activated against that serial number between the limit being increased and me trying. I also strongly don't believe I have activated 30 times.

At this point in time, the only explanation that fits the facts is that my serial number has been compromised and has leaked to the internet.

I would have expected to have had my existing serial cancelled and be issued another one. To date this hasn't happened.

There has been some very high profile data thefts recently (including a massive attack and data theft from the British Telco "Talk Talk") so i had assumed you would take any hint of a security issue seriously.

I will raise a (third) we b
