Volume Rubber Banding

Post by markpritch »

Hi Guys
It's been a while and I am now using VS Pro X6 for the first time.
I've tried using Volume Rubber Banding (VRB) in some of my clips but can't seem to get it to work. I don't see it mentioned in the PDF user guide whereas it looms large in my VS10 user guide.
Is this a feature that is not available in X6 or am I just doing something wrong?
When I add a key frame to the red line and pull the red line right to the bottom (-36) the soundtrack can still be heard quite clearly.
I used to chop up the frame into fragments and mute those pieces I didn't want to hear, leaving those I did but you guys got me onto VRB as a faster alternative.
Am I back to salami slicing my frames once again?
Many thanks, hoping you are all well.
Cheers
Mark

When you have inserted your key frames, do you play the video back in Clip or Project mode? If the former, then of course you will hear the original audio at full volume. It's only when you play it back in Project mode that you will notice the reduction in volume. But yes, X6 certainly continues the use of rubber banding, as does X7 and X8/8.5 -- though X8/8.5 also includes a new audio ducking feature which in effect is auto rubber banding...

Hi Ken, thank you. How stupid of me!
I cannot remember whether I was in clip or project mode each time I tried it and I ended up salami slicing as I did not receive an email notification that a response had been added.
I've now tried it again and, eureka!, you are, of course, quite correct. It certainly does still work. Just seems very odd there is no mention of it in the X6 user guide.
Thanks for your help, I will try to remember for the future.
I have another topic, having completed the video, but will post separately in case it affects other users.
Kind regards
Mark
