On my system, both PSP X8 32-bit and 64-bit are crashing during batch processing. 32-bit seems to freeze and become a zombie process at about the point where it has claimed 2.5 gigs of RAM, while 64-bit continues to eat up RAM until it maxes out, then crashes; or Windows 7 will give me an error message stating that my system is low on memory and needs to close PSP.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit with a 500 gig hard drive and 16 gigs RAM. I do not seem to be experiencing issues with any other software. At present, I am working around this issue by batching my images in groups of 100 at a time using PSP X8 64-bit. Anything more than that and my system slows down to nothing and will crash at between 200 - 250 images. 32-bit is pretty much unusable for batch processing and goes zombie at about 50 images.
I would appreciate tips or advice, and even just to hear from others experiencing this issue.

Re: PSP x8 - batch processing issue
Not that i am happy you experience this but i am happy to not be the only one. So far, i WAS the only one who had reported this. For me, it crashes EVERY TIME i try to run the batch process . It does not matter what process i want to do (frame, script, watermark, etc.), it crashes.
I accidentally found a workaround but it involves installing something for reporting the crashes (Crash Dump); basically, when i have that installed to report the crashes, it stops the crashes. Odd but that is how it is.
If you don't mind, i will report this as a bug, alongside my report. Maybe the engineers could follow up? I can't promise what they will do, but i can tell that i will report it.

Interesting, this suggests to m that there is a memory leak. Like they aren't releasing the image data after closing it. Or something similar. If it has to do with the number or size of the images there is no way I would experience problems as my batches tend to be fairly small.

Thanks, Cassel and LeviFiction! I appreciate your responses. Likewise, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this sort of issue - that increases the chances of it getting fixed
The problem is very frustrating. And it makes batch processing images from a photo shoot (usually 500+) quite difficult.
How does one submit PSP bug reports? It would be helpful to know, and I might get some insights from reading up on the bug reports.

Re: PSP x8 - batch processing issue
I haven't made much progress with this problem. Turning off the Undo system prior to running a batch process and then turning it back on afterwards seemed to produce a slight improvement (I had no crashes!) but PSP X8 still maxed out all the available RAM and slowed my system to a tedious crawl. I've attached a screenshot of my Windows Task Manager showing PSP Private Working Set usage. Dropping out of batch processing does not clear this; I have to restart PSP.
