Capture problem in VS9 !!!

Post by Vasan »

Dear forum members,

The picture in VS9 is fuzzy at the top with frequent flashes. I used VS9 to capture VHS – PAL to make DVD. I use ATI Rage theater video capture. I have Sony 6 head stereo multisystem VCR. I connected the VCR to computer thro ATI card. I live in Toronto, Canada.

I have Pentium 4, 3.00GHZ, 250GB HDD, 1GB RAM, XP professional Service pack 2.

I used the Video & Audio capture property settings. Selected MPEG, Lower field detected by VS(tried upper field order also), quality to 100%, 720x576 25fps, LPCM audio, DVD – PAL 4:3.

I continued to capture with the above problem. I then burnt it to DVD with a hope that these problems may not be hlighted when I see them in TV. Bad luck ! It does show the above problems.

My VCR is new and the tape is okay. I tried several other VHS tape which also had problems.

I desperately need help to solve the above problem.

Thanks you
Vasan

Vasan,
Use Upper Field First for analog capture.
What is your video bitrate?
Constant or Variable?

Have you cleaned the VCR heads? (New or Old, this could be problem)

When you burned to DVD, did you set the Burn proerties manually to exactly match your project video file properties?

Some fuzzyness at the edges is normal for all analog captures. The problem can be made worse by head alignment problems, some VCRs have track alignment options that you can adjust to reduce the effect.

If the entire screen flashes, it could be Macrovision or a degraded video signal.
