So yesterday evening, I started editing a video in VideoStudio Pro X6 I'd recorded on an Elgato HD60, syncing up audio from a skype call, and everything was going fine.
Today, when I opened up the program to resume editing, I played the video to listen to the audio, paused it where I needed to clip it, and the program froze. About 10 seconds later, it said the program had stopped working, and the only option the menu gave me was Close program, so I had to choose it. When I went back in, I loaded the project again, and about 5 seconds after playing the video the same thing happened.
I've restarted the laptop multiple times, I've opened the program in windows 8, 7 and XP compatibility, and nothing I can do works. The program used to work fine on Windows 8, and this is the first time I've tried to use it since upgrading to Windows 10.

What format video does the Elgato produce? If you have some of it in the Video Studio library window, then without playing it right click it and copy ALL of its Properties here please, or else take a screen grab of the Properties box and upload it here as an Attachment.
Can we assume that in the past, before the Win 10 upgrade, that Elgato footage did not cause any problem with Video Studio? As for the compatibility issue, we simply can't say whether X6 is compatible with Win 10. Some people, me included, have not had any significant problems with either X8 or X7 running under Win 10, but other users have had a variety of problems. I imagine the same would be true for older versions. Unfortunately, this is one of the risks of upgrading to the new OS before the majority of kinks have been ironed out. Corel have already produced one significant update to ensure X8 is fully compatible with Win 10 (and Video Studio is now called X8.5 as a result). But I would not expect that Corel would produce similar updates for earlier versions.

File Format: MPEG-4 File
File size: 4,345,172 KB
Duration: 1630.113 seconds
Video Type: H.264 High Profile Video
Total Frames: 97,909 frame(s)
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 59.940 frames/sec

Total samples: 81,030,596 Samples
Attributes: 48,000 Hz, 16 bit, Stereo
Bit rate: 216 Kbps
Something else I'd forgotten to mention, I never used to add an audio track because the commentary was recorded with the main video, however this time I have split the game audio and added that to the commentary slot, and recorded a skype call and added that to the music slot.

Re: 'The Program has stopped working' in VS X6 Pro
That looks like absolutely standard mp4, and Video Studio would normally have no problem at all with it. Nor should splitting the audio and including it, and the Skype call, in the voiceover track made any significant difference. I assume the Skype call was also in a standard format, though it would be useful to know what that format was. I ask because Video Studio in several versions has had problems with certain types of mp3 audio, particularly that produced using the LAMEmp3 codec. We usually tell users to convert that audio to standard .wav format. If your audio is in fact mp3, then this could be worth trying. If not, then I suspect the real culprit is the upgrade to Win 10.

The properties say that the file format is MP3 Audio Files, and the Audio type is MPEG Audio Layer 3 files. Might I ask how exactly I convert it to .wav?

If you don't have an audio editing program already, the freeware program Audacity does a very good job: http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacit ... p_redirect
You just open your mp3 in Audacity, then under File you use the Export Audio command and .wav is the default format.

Re: 'The Program has stopped working' in VS X6 Pro
I exported the file from Audacity as a .wav file, and it seems to have worked now as I have had no issue with the software crashing in the last ten minutes. Thanks for your help!

Hopefully that will remain the case!
But I would still be saving the project every couple of minutes -- just in case!!!
