Hi everyone,
I will start by saying that I am completely new to the video editing world so bear with me.
I have downloaded a trial of VSX8 (18.0.1.26 64 bit PRO) a couple of days ago and have been playing with it since. I have watched some tutorials on the learn.corel.com website and am getting a bit confused, because I am clearly missing some features they are showing in the tutorials - for example in the Project Properties menu, in Project Format I only have one option (DV/AVI) and in this tutorial there are many options (at 0:53)
http://learn.corel.com/video/tutorials/ ... ing-Part-1
There is also another part on setting the Smart Proxy settings and there I also have less options than in the tutorial.
Is this because:
1. the tutorial is VSX7 and I have VSX8 and this stuff has been moved somewhere else?
2. I have the trial version and it's missing some features
3. the tutorial is Ultimate and I have Pro?
Thanks,
Kasia
Confused -VSX8 trial - is this the same as the full version?

Re: Confused -VSX8 trial - is this the same as the full vers
Basically the trial version is a very cutback version of the programme. The purchased version has much more available. IMO Corel have damaged their reputation by not supplying the VS X8 Pro programme as the trial version - it has just confused potential buyers.
The tutorials correctly reflect the full version which IMO is worth the money!! Remember that Ultimate is the same as the Pro version but with added effects. (see the comparison chart to decide if the add-ons are worth it for you)
I suggest you go for the Pro version and get yourself into the world of video editing.
If you are new to video editing then VideoStudio is a very good starting point. It is relatively easy to pick up the basics but there is plenty of "extras" such as effects and transitions to go at. I have tried on or two other editors but I keep coming back to VS as it does everything I want and is quite intuitive. Come here or go to the tutorials for help. (see some of the older Gripps tutorials for the basics) IMO video editing is the new art of making films.
Any doubts, ask here.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Confused -VSX8 trial - is this the same as the full vers
Thanks a lot for the clarification, I thought I was doing something wrong and wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out. I really wish they had clearly stated what's missing in the trial (like they do in the Cyberlink's trial).
