VSX7 exits rendering .MOV files
When I attempt to render some .MOV files (1920x1080 @ 29 f/s) then VSX7 bombs out after the first file with no stated error and fails to create any output; this happens whether the target output properties are set to a HD or DVD profile; I have also tried enabling Smart Proxy but without any success. The files play as a project from one to another quite happily in Edit mode. I seem to recollect a similar situation before (earlier versions of VS and with Windows XP) when certain QuickTime or iTunes elements were present and I could fix it by uninstalling them all (I can't remember what all the elements were now), or alternatively converting each .MOV file into another format. Both methods were long-winded and I find it hard to believe this problem hasn't been eradicated by now, especially as most still cameras also seem to produce .MOV files nowadays. I note that some folk have had problems with VSX7 hanging up while processing .MOV files but I'm not hanging up, just terminating the rendering process. Any ideas?

What version of QT do you have installed?
FWIW, Corel is aware of another problem some users are experiencing with .mov files whose audio will play, but whose video is totally black. They are working on a fix which hopefully might also help your situation.

Re: VSX7 exits rendering .MOV files
OK Ken, thanks. QT is version 7.7.5. Actually, on further investigation I found two of the videos were 1280x720. On separating out the different res videos for rendering these two still caused termination as stated; in the case of the 1920x1080 ones these rendered up to 92% then just hung (as per an existing thread I mentioned in my error report) running at 25% CPU in Task Manager until I terminated the vstudio.exe process. I am sure I have had both types working though it may have been with VS6 so perhaps I'll try them under VS6.

Re: VSX7 exits rendering .MOV files
.... and works perfectly on VSX6 both with the individual resolution types (1280x720 and 1920x1080) and also with them combined in one project. So my get-out is that I retained VSX6 when I installed X7 in September last year. Not much consolation to those on X7 only I'm afraid and tbh very dissatisfying. Perhaps I should bug it to Corel FWIW.

Re: VSX7 exits rendering .MOV files
You can bug it to Corel, though we are now on X8.5
The problem with MOV is it's a container, not a file type.
It was designed by Apple, (nothing wrong with that) to work on their computers, not specifically windows machines/
There are hundreds of file types inside the mov container and each year (day!!) the list grows as a manufacturer tweaks a codec to suit their product. It is hard for all editing programmes to keep up.
