Hello everyone
I downloaded trial versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Corels PSP X8, for deciding which one to purchase. For the moment I am certainly leaning towards PSP.
However, I submitted a question to support prior to purchasing, and they didn't quite answer my question.
One feature I like very much in PSP X8 is the lens correction that you can perform. (I found this - in my Dutch language version - under "Aanpassen" -> "Lenscorrectie..." which I suppose translates like "Adjust" -> "Lens correction..." in English). However, my camera, a Nikon D3300 is not listed, so no lens correction profiles are available to me.
So I submitted a question to support, asking whether it would be added later on to the lens correction profiles, or if there was any other way of using lens correction with my camera. The answer that came back was that the Nikon D3000 (sic, mine is a D3300) is supported in PSP X8. So I replied, pointing out that first of all I had a D3300, and second that my question was specific to the lens correction profiles. The answer that came back said that the D3300 and its raw format is supported... I know that, it is listed as being supported, but it doesn't say anything about lens correction profiles...
So can anyone please tell me whether Corel sometimes adds cameras and lenses to the lens correction profiles when the program gets updated? Or if there is any other way to add my camera and its lenses to the lens correction profiles? It's definitely a worthwhile function for me...
Thank you in advance for your kind replies!

Re: Lens correction profiles - question not answered by supp
Lens correction is not camera specific.
It's correcting distortion.

If the lens exists under a different camera model you should just be able to do that. I'm sure Nikon lenses fit more than just the 3300.
However, to answer your question I don't know if Corel updates the camera lens profiles with service packs. I do know they increase support for various cameras but I think that might just be in RAW format support.
You can save out your own preset if you know the values. Presets are essentially mini scripts that contain setting data. If you know what values to put inside the Lens Correction options you can select "Manual" instead of automatic. And enter the values in manually. Then save out a preset.
Another option if you don't mind spending the extra money is a plugin. PTLens by ePaperPress is a plugin that can be used in both PSP and Photoshop. It includes a few more lens distortion options and includes your camera model in its profiles. You can download a trial and play with it if you're interested. http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/purchase.html
PTLens can also be used as a standalone application.
