How exactly are you trying to 'import' the video? Do you right click in the timeline and choose 'Insert video' or do you do something else?

I go to File and then pick the one I want VSP and then click. The Titles appear but the video clips are all blank.

Do you get any error messages at all - any thing about re-linking.

please RIGHT click on one of the videos in the timeline and choose 'properties' from the pop out

copy that property box and post it here so we can see what we are dealing with

It does sound as if the original video files have been moved or deleted.

OK. What has happened to the *original* video clips you initially included in Hawaii Part 1.VSP? Are they still in the same place on your computer as they were when you first created that VSP or have you moved them to somewhere else, either on your computer or perhaps on an external USB hard disk? I ask since a VSP is NOT a video, and it does NOT contain any video. It is a small text file which merely tells Video Studio what original video clips are in Hawaii Part 1.VSP, where they are stored, what editing was done to them, and what has been added to them (e.g. filters, transitions, voiceovers, background music).

Hi

The file you are trying to insert to the timeline is a VSP, this is the project file containing the editing details, it is similar to a TXT text document. It is not a video file it is a Video Studio Projects Document.
Go to File – Open Project and navigate to that file.
Your project should open showing the clips on the timeline.

If some clips show as Black and White then they will require re-linking
The clips should be video or image types?
Navigate your files to find the appropriate file, the name will show at the top of the window
If they are VSP types then you have nested projects, this action can cause problems.

Thanks will try that. However when you do save a Video it saves as a VSP. Should I save it under a different format

Ken was very clear, a VSP file is a text file containing instructions, it is NOT a video. The VSP file "works" on your video files and takes the bits you want and sets them up to make the final film. It is when you go to "Share" and render the video that all the bits from your original video files are pulled together in line with the text instructions in the VSP file.
BUT your VSP file must contain the addresses for the original video files AND be able to find them. If the addresses have been changed by you moving the original files then as Lata says you need to "re-link" them Or move them back into the original folder where they were when you first edited your video.

I ALWAYS leave the raw video files in a named sub-folder in "My Videos" folder and never move them so the set of instructions in the VSP file for that edit can find the videos.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Apart from what Terfyn has said, I would add that the Save/Save As commands under File in Video Studio are NOT to save a video, they are to save a video project. As we have now said repeatedly, a VSP is not a video format, it is a text file. In Video Studio, when you want to 'save' a project in a video format, you use the Share function. If you look at the centre of the top of the Video Studio screen, you will see three tabs labelled Capture, Edit and Share. Once you have finished editing your project and you want to 'save' it as a final, new video, then you go to Share and select the format you want the new video to have.

Hi Tezza

So what happens if you select File – Open Project then browse for the VSP.

It should open showing the clips in the timeline.?

Oh just s thought---
the file extension of .VSP may be hidden by your operating system which could cause some confusion.
Go to any folder Menu - Tools – Folder Options - View Tab – Deselect “Hide extensions of Known file types”

Hope this helps
