help please, alpha channel doesnt work

The question of Boris 6.1 and 6.6 has been discussed in detail here before: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 08#p301808 It is worth reading that thread in its entirety as it suggests several possible solutions. While 6.1 comes as part of the Ultimate package, Boris themselves offer a free upgrade to the plug-in on their website, though they specify that it is for VS X7 rather than X8. Some people who already had X7 found that 6.6 was only installed on X7, but all they had to do was copy the plug-in from X7 to X8 and it worked.

One other thing to try is to go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\UleadSystems\Corel VideoStudio Pro [x64] and change the name of the 18.0 folder to 18.0_OLD. Then restart X8 and things should be rebuilt, and Graffiti should properly show under FX...

I am unable to replicate monjanse's more specific problem, however. I just created a quick project by using sample video from the VS library. I then dragged Graffiti onto the clip and chose a preset effect at random (in this case ShatterGlow as it sounded like the effect monjanse was trying to achieve.) It appeared to work just fine in preview, with the title exploding and glowing with full alpha channel transparency over the background clip. I then rendered it to a full HD mp4 (h.264, 1920 x 1080, Frame Based, 15 Mbps bitrate). Rendering was pretty quick, and the new clip played back perfectly, again with full alpha transparency of the exploding title over the background clip.

Having looked at monjanse's video on YouTube, however, I am wondering if he has been using Graffiti correctly. It appears he has created a separate title clip, apparently using Graffiti, and inserted it in an overlay track. Graffiti, of course, can be dragged and dropped directly on the main track, and Customised there, changing the text of the title, and having automatic alpha channel transparency. However, if a separate title clip is created and inserted into an overlay track, you then have to go into Options and click on 'Mask & Chroma Key', then tick 'Apply Overlay Options' and customise transparency from there.

ok. in gribbs tutorial on page turn, and his tutorial on the boris graffiti 2d particle, it is alpha and added graffiti on the overlay track. the underlying track was showing underneath the overlay tracks pageturn.

I have never seen the Gripps tutorials, so cannot comment on this. In particular, I don't understand what 'page turn' means in this context except in relation to a transition...

I can only repeat that for me, Boris works if applied directly to the video in the main track. It is, after all, a filter in this sense. If applied to a clip which is then put in an overlay track, then that overlay clip IMHO would need to be adjusted using Mask & Overlay to get any possible transparency. But please correct me if I'm wrong or misunderstanding the entire situation.

As a footnote I would add that, as I already told monjanse, we don't reply via private message to substantive questions or comments relating to them sent to us by private message or email. Hi Ken
If you notice the image provided by Monjanse that the FX library thumbnail for Graffiti also displays as black.
Then simply adding the FX filter to a video clip also turns that black and I assume that’s before customising the effect?
Thanks for the 6.6 version info, I will have to remember in future?????

I am fast running out of ideas but have you checked your Graphics Driver to see if the correct one Is installed. Maybe view the G-Force web site

I had to reinstall windows to fix it. But the alphachannel still doesnt work from graffiti to videostudio.

Ok. I didnt know graffiti only works on main track. I though sense it was alpha on graffiti it would be alpha in videostudio also.

I don’t seem to be having any problems applying graffiti to the overlay track

Not that I am an expert in using the plug-in, but it does seem to work.

Then save the project, zip the vsp and attach to your post, we can try your edits with our programs.

and when i adding chroma cey pro to the video, and placing a pictrure behind clip, the picture doesnt show in the green screen chromakeyed video. but it does show when using the built in chroma key in the videostudio.

1) what grippss video you try to replicate? I want to see.
2) Are you trying to use chroma key AND boris ? show us your attribute screen

its exactly that what you showing with the picture, i try to do with graffiti.


in the begining of the video, he seems to be added himself in the background of the video with graffiti effect, with alpha on the video with graffiti effect on.

leaf blower is all done on single track, so this is why it's on black

Ok. But one of the tutorials i linked has overlay and underlay track and the overlay track has graffiti effect with alpha channel so the underlay track picture is seen where the alpha channel are. That is what i try to do, but i fail. I trying to do what you showed in the picture with pageturn effect.
