Lines caused by vector text layering

Post by nanrector »

Hello!

I've dealt with this issue forever and wondered if there is a way to stop it from happening. Whenever I layer vector text the invisible outline of the text box shows as a line that will cut through the text above or below it. The only way I can get rid of that clear line is to move my different text layers around... pulling one on top of the other until it disappears. Is there a way to stop it from doing that?

Here's an example. Each of these words is on its own layer and you can see a line through the bottom of the text "SEE". Its caused by the "YOU" text below it.

Thanks!

I had to look back through your posts to see which version of PSP you are using. I hope it is still PSP X4.
I tested this with Batavia font, Vector text and placed the three words on separate layers with a background layer below.
I overlapped the words to make sure I would get an overlap line if it existed.

I could not see any line unless the Pick tool was still active. Choose another tool and see if the border line disappears. If it is still there and switching tools does not work, can you show a screen shot of your layers.

Shoot. Sorry. Forgot to post my version. Yeah X4.

No the pic tool makes no difference. I just did the text shown. As long as I keep them separated they are ok but if I then move them closeI get the lines which appear to just be clear. I even got them vertically in places here. I rearrange the text layers and they normally go away. Though in this case I could not get one of the vertical lines to go away no matter what I did.

You can see on these two screen shots how it's using the border of the text box when selected to make those lines.

Do the lines stay if you roll your mouse wheel to force PSP to refresh the image. Do they stay when you merge all layers.
Lastly can you do a screen capture of your layers from your layers palette.

Scrolling my mouse just zooms and they stay.
Yes the lines stay when I merge.
HOWEVER if I "undo" the merge... and put it back to layers the lines are then gone. Weird.

I suggest that you add that info to your profile so that you don't have to remember in future and others don't have to ask. :-)
