What are the properties of the source material your trying to burn.

While in MovieFactory and on the time-line screen:
Right-Click of the video's thumbnail and select "Properties".
Then post back to the forum what the properties of the video are.

I don't see anything wrong with those video file properties.
Sometimes you may have to try a different method for burning
or your dvd media or burner is probmatic etc

Read this post & how to create an ISO file or DVD folers:

Hope this helps,

What other burning software do you have installed? There may be a conflict. Any DMA plugins, InCD etc?

When connecting devices via USB as THOFF says if there's other devices
using usb they can take up the bandwidth.
When the device was working maybe it was connecting at usb 2.0 speed
and then problems if it dropped down to usb 1 speed.
Also if using a usb hub can make the device drop back to usb 1 if other
devices connected to the hub are usb 1. (Thanks for that info Thoff)

Maybe try a different usb port on the machine etc.
Some external boxes(controllers) are setup only for harddisks and not
cd/dvd's. Also, depends on the make & model of the burner.

When you connect the external device under system properties you may
have to disable "Write Caching & indexing", or maybe that should be
enabled if disabled.

A wild guess would be that the burner while in the computer has the
device jumper (located on the back of the drive) to Secondary or DS.
When you installed the drive in an external box maybe you didn't
change that jumper to Master (1st device in the chain of the port).
Usually when installing a single device in an external box the device
needs to be assigned Master.
