Particleshop plugin

Post by hjed207 »

I've received advertisements for Particleshop, which can be used as a plugin with Paintshop Pro X8. Since it appears to be advertised under the Corel Painter area of the corel website, I am wondering if I have to also have Painter in order for the program to function in Paintshop PRO, or can it be used properly in Paintshop PRO X8 without additional programs?

No, this is purely a regular plugin. You don't need extra software. Although I would make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements.

Hmm; well my computer more than meets the requirement (win 7 pro 64bit (all updates), 8 gig ram, plenty of hd space), but the install freezes. Downloaded twice.
I see a window briefly that tells me it's un-archiving to temp directory, then I get a splash screen with the product name but the middle is dark gray. A 32 bit Particleshop process appears in processes, but no cpu use.
No error messages; have to force close with task manager.
Not good.
Will try to contact support.

You do have to purchase these brushes at a cool $69.95! Almost the cost of updating PS? I think this is way too expensive for a few brushes.

Yes, trueblue, I agree. I'm new to Paint Shop Pro. But despite my initial disappointment, I'm rapidly becoming a fan - guess I just need to start getting the right thinking processes. I've noticed that generally plugins and brushes across a wide spectrum of products seem very expensive. Since I pay in ZAR here in S.A., and the currency conversion is something like 14 to 1, it tends to become VERY expensive.

I fully understand, as it's the same for me. Can't you get PSP goodies within SA so you don't have to pay those exhorbitant exchange rates?
