Cannot Install trial X8.5
I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio X8.5, but I cannot install it.
When I open VideoStudioX8_LimitedTrial_32bit.exe it creates a folder containing the install files. This works OK.
When I try to run the setup.exe I see an outline of a small message box flashing on the screen and nothing more happens.
I tried it on different users on the same Windows 10 computer, with the same results.
I also tried disabling the firewall (Comodo) and the antivirus (Avast!), but it still fails to start the install.
I tried it on another computer, also windows 10, and it works OK there.
Unfortunately, the computer that will not install VideoStudio has a much faster processor and I would like to run it there.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

We know the download is fine as it works elsewhere.
Therefore it has to do with your pc.

Does the VideoStudio install process keep a log that can be reviewed in order to determine how far it got?
More info: By observing the my computer that does install OK, I noticed that in the failing computer the "Installation Wizard" is not launched. At least, the Installation Wizard never comes up.

Have you tried installing in Safe mode with networking? If not, please try this next.

The only other thing I can think of at the moment would be for you to create a new Windows Profile. Log onto that Profile and try installing again. If it works, you can later uninstall the new Profile, yet VS should remain.

By Windows profile, I assume you mean another user account on the same computer. Well, I tried that, as mentioned in my original post. It still does not work.
This same downloaded file works just fine on my other computer. So, obviously this computer is missing something - or - it has something that the install process doesn't like - or - the install process wants to do something that this computer will not allow - or - the install process is experiencing another unknown problem.
In any case, the install process does not "complain". It just ends quietly. It doesn't even report that it is ending.
Is there some sort of "switch" that can be turned on to trace and report any of the above possibilities?

Hi
You mention installing the 32 bit version of the program.
I assume your pc to be 64 bit, if so have you tried installing that instead of 32bit?
I am running out of ideas as to why it should not install correctly.
You may be best contacting Corel, try their Facebook account, they should be able to help?
Just in case the original setup files were faulty.....
When you do install again first delete the Setup files from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel

Just a thought - Is the trial not X8.0 and then a separate patch upgrades it to X8.5?
Also there is a hotfix for installing X8 if X7 is already installed - I think.
I myself have never been able to install any Corel product unless I choose the programme's default folder location (even though Corel seems to allow you to change the location upon install).

I finally managed to install VideoStudio X8 and apply the Service Packs, including SP2. So now I am at VS8.6.
I found a fix somewhere on one of the forums (VSX8_Cleanup.exe). I ran it before installing X8 and it worked. (I tried to attach it to this post, but it is 651K, and the limit is 500K.)
I guess there was some garbage on my machine that I did not know about.
Anyway, I am now starting my trial period. Right of the top I noticed some anomaly. I will post it separately.
