boris and/or cool3d

Post by wonhead3 »

I've just upgraded to VS9 and also have these two other products. Can someone tell me in a sentence or two how I access either of them from within VS9, it's not apparent to me. With boris, not sure if this matters, but when I installed, if found VS8 and I changed the name of the folder it had identified by changing the "8" to a "9". The install appeared to complete successfully though since that folder exists as well.
Thanks.

wonhead3...I can assist you with Cool 3D. When you are finished with the effect you want in Cool 3D you go to "File" and to "Creat Video File" the program asks you where you want to save it. You will have to decide as to what folder you want to keep said saved cool 3d video file. When you use VS9 you go to the menu to "insert video file into the time line". Just simply go to said folder and click on the cool 3d file and it will automatically be inserted into your VS9 timeline.

You cannot "access" Cool3D from within VideoStudio - it is a standalone programme which you use to create clips/images which you then import to VideoStudio to enhance your video - have a look at the Cool3D pages on the Ulead Website.

Oh, well that explains it. So if you are creating a title for the overlay track do you just make sure to use a black background and then pick black as your transparent color for that clip in VS9? Or is there some way you indicate in Cool3d that you want the title to be one used to play over video?

Well you could do it that way - but the more normal way has traditionally been to create your image with a transparent background in Cool 3D and then use it in the overlay track.

but it doesnt have to be just titles - it can be all sorts of MOVING 3D objects - a globe for instance or a company logo, it can also do very simple transparent overlays - for instance if you look at the "Screen Views 1" page on my website the Heart shaped overlay was produced in Cool 3D.

There is access to a .pdf file at the bottom of this webpage :-

http://www.ulead.com/partner/app/boris/factory.htm

which contains instructions on using Boris Factory from within VideoStudio

You could also try checking and seeking technical support at :-

I installed Boris factory into Video Studio 9 and it took me a while to work out where to find it. I even re-installed it a couple of times before I realised!
Go to your transitions and select the (already existant) FX Transitions.
You will now find an extra transition in the list.

When you drag this transition between 2 clips you now choose the customize option which opens up a whole new screen where you can choose the new transitions.
