Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
I ordered and installed about 20 plugins several years ago, and have not used this laptop in about 2 years ago. I have forgotten how to get to them and select what I want to used. I have gone through everything in the program and can't find them. Nor can I find the emails, downloads, anything regarding them (not even who they were from). What are PSP plugin extensions, and I think the install directions said to put them in a non-standard file. Thanks greatly for any help to find and get these running again!

Re: Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
I see .8bi files everywhere....how, within the program, do I find these plugins, total example, 'go to file, go to such and such, then go to this' ...I hope that makes sense. I don't know what all those .8bi files are or how to access them. Are they plugins, filters, affects, etc... or just plugin files? Thanks greatly!

When you do a Windows search the results show both individual files that fit the search criteria as well as the path (i.e., the folders) in which the files reside. So check what paths are shown - there shouldn't be many paths or folders. Most plugins install in the installation folder in a Plugins subfolder or, in older versions in My PSP Files/Plugins folder under the installation folder.morgandy wrote:I see .8bi files everywhere....how, within the program, do I find these plugins, total example, 'go to file, go to such and such, then go to this' ...I hope that makes sense. You need to know where your plug-ins are stored and then point PSP to the plug-in folder(s) within Preferences. PSP will not find your plug-ins for you. Here are some instructions on how to point to the plug-in folder(s) once you locate them.

Also, my plug-ins are .8bf; not 8bi. Try doing a search for 8bf to see if that locates your missing plug-ins.
Hope this helps.

Re: Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
8bi and 8bf are both photoshop. Photoshop plugins have several 8b* extensions and they are designed for different things. PSP is simply photoshop plugin compatible it does not have its own plugin format.
8bi is a file format plugin. These plugins add file formats that you can open, or save as. For example the ico plugin is a plugin that ends in .8bi and offers you the option to save your image as a ICO image. Or SuperPNG which lets you save out an indexed PNG with full alpha transparency support for the smallest size.
Another popular one is from Nvidiia that let's you save to a dds file format. These show up in the SaveAs dialog.
8bf are for effects plugins. These are found under your Effects -> Plugins menu.

Re: Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
I downloaded a good search engine and have found both .8bi's and f's scattered around. My question remains, what exact steps, within the program, do I take to find my plugins and use them? Thanks again..

Re: Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
Once again, if you are looking to have PSP find your plug-ins for you, that's not going to happen. You need to know where your plug-ins are located and point PSP to the folder(s) where they are located. Instructions are in the link in my earlier post.morgandy wrote:I downloaded a good search engine and have found both .8bi's and f's scattered around. If I misunderstood your question and you have already set up your File Locations and simply want to use the plug-ins, go to Effects -> Plugins and you should see them.

Re: Paintshop Pro 10 Plugins 'lost'
What Kathy said. You cannot do it within the program. You have to know where they are and that's why I told you to find the path to them using Search in File Explorer. If that doesn't work for you in finding the path then perhaps you aren't familiar with how it operates.
