VS X8 Ultimate - Bonus FX not in Library

Post by ArtAddicted »

I have install Video Studio X8 Ultimate from a boxed set along with the Bonus FXs. VS was never installed on this computer in the past.

Upon launching I did not have any of the bonus FX in the library. When I closed, VS stated that updates were available. I authorized SP2 and Hotfix to be installed. Still no Bonus FX in the library.

I searched this and other forums and tried to uninstall and reinstall the bonus FXs. And tried again with just Boris Graffiti.

Can anyone provide any guidance.

Thank you.

Hi ArtAddicted

And welcome to the forums……

Go to the FX library.

Using the drop down box adjacent to “All” view the list.
There should be an entry for “proDad”

Do you see that?

Those filters should also show in the “All” category?

There is no proDad or Boris FX. The only bonus FX that is in the Library "All" is NewBlue Titler FX.

I can see the file folders installed at:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Boris FX, Inc and C:\Program Files (x86)\
    C:\Program Files\Boris FX, Inc
    C:\Program Files (x86)\proDad
The Boris FX, Inc file folder installed at C:\Program Files (x86) has only 4 of the sub-subfolders that is installed at C:\Program Files

I used the installer included, is it possiable that they have been installed in the incorrect location?

This situation is often resolved by closing VS, then going to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro [X64 if you have that version]. Then you change the name of the folder from 18.0 to 18.0_Old. Restart VS and its contents will be rebuilt and a new 18.0 folder created. You should now be able to see the other plug-ins.

Ken, Thank you very much, this seems to have done the trick. I can see the Bonus FXs (Boris & Adorage) now in the library. I do not have time (pending work appointment) to check out the function; but, will try later this evening.

Hi lupino82

and welcome to the forums..........

Are you sure you re-named the correct folder, I say that as I have never seen that message when re-setting the program. I do however see a progress bar in blue showing the library being populated, that does take a while.
C:\Users\Trevor\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)

The folder structure is Hidden by the operating system, you have to activate that via Folder Tools – view options, a little different using W10.
Or search for %appdata% in the start search box to find the roaming folder.

Yes, I renamed the folder, the libraries ok (new folder 18.0) but I don't see effects and all others that were in VideoStudio x6.

I had many default effects and initial videos and now no

Hi

Can you confirm that you have installed the Ultimate Bonus pack called VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe
Assuming you have installed Video Studio 64 bit.
The file is quite large at 1.6 Gb.

Video libraries from earlier versions are not automatically installed to the newer versions,
If you wish to use clips from X6 then they will have to be manually imported to the X8 program.
ProDad from X6 being 32 bit will not work with CVSX8 64 bit
