Trial version of X7

Post by Bertyop »

Is it possible to download a trial version of X7 or is X8 only available now? My OS is XP so I need X7 (please correct me if I'm wrong about that).

It looks like Corel are now only selling X8. You can use X8 on Windows 7 as there are a number of users in a forum I belong to who use Win 7 with PSPX8. Remember to use the recommended download of the 32 and 64bit versions if you do buy it.

I think Bertyop is more interested in knowing about whether it can work with XP rather than Win 7. But I'm afraid that personally I can't answer this as all my Win 7 and Win 8.1 computers, which certainly used to work well with X7 and its predecessors, are now Win 10! And my only operating computer with XP is a netbook (Atom) which would probably never work with PSP's recent versions anyway (though I have never tried).

But hopefully, I would expect there are a few XP diehards out there who have no trouble with X7 and will let us know...

I did some research since I posted my question ("Is it possible to download a trial version of X7 or is X8 only available now?"). The answer is yes, it is still possible to download a trial version of X7. Corel provides it via Amazon here:

http://www.amazon.com/PaintShop-Pro-Day ... B00X84HV48

And Corel gives the system requirements for X7 on this Amazon page (in the "From the Manufacturer" section):

As already mentioned Corel is only selling X8 now. However if you want to gamble a bit, you could check on ebay or amazon to see if you can still purchase some there as shops / people try to offload earlier versions.

When you consider that some people still prefer to use older versions of PSP, because of some features that have now been dropped or changed, and also now that XP has been unsupported since early 2014, and because X8 does not run on Windows XP, perhaps Corel are missing out on some marketing by not offering their older software at say half price.
Other vendors are still offering earlier versions (and perhaps making money) that Corel is not getting full price for.

An earlier version at $50 may be just the right entrance price to get someone into using PSP for the first time and prepare the way for these users to be new upgraders of the future.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
