Just wondering if it was possible to output video with an alpha channel (Transparency).
I tried a few things, even rendering to "Uncompressed" in an AVI container - but it doesn't look like it allows the RGBA colourspace (I do see a 24-bit RGB option). When I try this, it outputs with a "Corel Grey" background.
I did find elsewhere in the Forum here, how to right-click and "Convert To Animation", which appears to convert Text into a series of PNG images (which can have a Transparency channel) and encase them in a .UISX file, which can then be further manipulated - but this seems to only work for Text objects and not a clip with some effects on it...
Wondering if it is some setting or something else I am missing, or if it is not possible (until future versions!). Thanks for any ideas
Edit:
I also tried the Snapshot function, but it produces a BMP with the "Corel Grey" background - not a PNG with Transparency.

Re: Alpha Channel Output?
You forgot it's a sub 100$ software, 99% of its users will never need this.
Having said that, you do have a point as it will import MOV with alpha.

Re: Alpha Channel Output?
Thanks, but other products at this price point can output RGB+A (eg. Sony's Vegas Movie Studio, which is $49)asik1 wrote:You forgot it's a sub 100$ software, 99% of its users will never need this.

and VSP already offers it in a way, with it's "Convert To Animation", but unfortunately it only seems to work with Titles.
I was just wondering if it did the same thing with Projects as a whole or even just other clips (to use them as overlays and effects on top of other clips) and I was merely missing how to do it somewhere...
Perhaps I am asking too much, you're right, I just enjoy using VSP and want it to do "everything"
