Hi,
I noticed in VSX8 there don't seem to be very many samples as in past versions? I was thinking of importing
them from VSX6 and 5 is there a certain way to importing them or adding them?
Which folders to find them? I kind of thought 18 would have more or less.
One of the problems when upgrading there never really seems to be an import from previous versions.
Though I did notice it imported somethings from 12 for some odd reason.
Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce
There may be some thing wrong with your program / setup.
The last time I saw clips automatically inserted to the library from VS 12 was a problem with my laptop and Graphics Drivers.
You may have to explain a little further on that one.
If you have clips apparently from VS12 folders, are you able to add those to the timeline, or do you get errors?
Ok
X8 Library Samples
There are quite a few, but the initial installation only installs 3 video, 3 jpeg and 6 audio
Have you installed the Contents Package, I will install this now and report on the new library content.
VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe
This is 863 Mb does populate the libraries to complete the installation.
Not only the Samples but also the Graphics section (flower icon below the “T”icon) as well as DVD Disc Templates and others
Can you confirm you have installed the Contents Package.

Re: Samples VSX8/importing from VSx6/5
Hi
I haven't seen a problem with ay files in the timeline but will experiment with them.
I think I had an older folder with VS12 files in them.
I also have VS15 and VS 16.
The only things I download were the 3 files from Corel. One I believe was 1.5 gigs which was a ultimate
bonus and also New blue effects.
I don't recall seeing anything on x8 content, though I will go to the download site and check.
Does this package I wonder include previous samples?
The problem I seem to run into is in doing family dvd's and other one is that
when I go to a new program I seem to have to re-link. This computer is 3 yrs old almost
I wouldn't of thought I would have to re-link and go searching for the files.
I tended to like the old upgrades and you didn't have to be concerned, now it loads a new
program and folders as in the last several versions.
Thanks Bruce

Re: Samples VSX8/importing from VSx6/5
Hi Bruce
Re-Linking
The program uses virtual clips on the timeline and libraries representing the files on the hard drive.
This is achieved by linking the timeline clips to the files saved on the hard drive.
If we move, re-name or change the files location then the program looses their location and requests a re-link.
Saving the files to an external drive can also cause re-link issues, make sure the external drive is on before launching the program.
If you wish to export a project to another pc then you are best in creating a Smart Package, that copies all clips used in a project to a new folder, even so you may have to re-link but only once as all clips are within the same folder.
I cannot comment on your DVD disc problems, we need more details, you are best to start a new topic, but again files used to burn a DVD must remain in their original location.
and did you find that Contents file to complete the installation.

I think what I meant from burning DVD's when you update a version, the new program files to do the previous ones are always in a different folder.
