Faded edges

Post by schzam »

What is the best way to fade the edges of an image ?

Got an image and I want to use it as a background to text, I would like to fade the edges of the image but not the centre if that makes sense. I have looked at the effects etc and cant seem to find it.

Many thanks

You have not mentioned a number of things and we cannot read your mind?
What version of PSP?
Fade to - white? black? a color? transparent? soft focused /out of focus edges?

There are a number of ways you can get soft or faded edges.
1. Picture Frames - if you have them all installed - Image Picture Frame select various frames and you can get ones that have faded edges.
2. Selections with Feather and invert and delete to background color or if a raster image delete to transparent.
3. Effects> Photo Effects > Vignette where you can have a circular, rectangular, do a freehand selection or use a previous made selection.
4. Use a soft eraser tool to erase the edges unevenly.
All of this works well in PSP X7 and previous versions.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
