Corel vs Video Pad
Can anyone here compare X8 to Video Pad by NCH? I'm currently using the NCH product, and I've downloaded the trial version of VS X8. But my experience with the trial version leaves a lot to be desired, and responses from Corel's tech support are literally useless. The reason I'm considering switching away from NCH is that it has a difficult time (at least on MY computer) being fast enough to play a clip without pausing to catch up. As far as features go, it has what I've needed so far. But then again, I've not used another editor so it's hard to know what I'm missing. So, if someone has experience with NCH, maybe they can give me an idea how the two compare. I hesitate to plunk down money for Corel's product at this point based on what I've seen of their support, but if the product performs better than NCH, it would be worth it to me. Thanks.

Having the trial installed, how do you think it compares?
WHat problems have you had?
Maybe your system isn't up to running the programme or the video files you are inserting into it, if you could fill in the required details in your profile we could look to see if it is a pc problem.

Hello Graham,
I have little doubt that my computer could be faster/better; see my earlier post re 4K playback issues in trial version: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57521
I haven't gotten too far in my experimenting with X8 yet, for several reasons. That's why I was hoping someone might give me some input before my trial period runs out. I'm not at all impressed with Corel tech support, to put it mildly, which makes me wary of getting into this product. But, as I said, if it is robust and works well, I'd be willing to buy it, tech support notwithstanding.

Re: Corel vs Video Pad
Unfortunately Corel made the incredibly silly decision to severely limit what the trial version could do. Anything involving paying another company a licence fee has been dropped. This of course means anyone testing VS will only be able to do very limited things with it, and get completely the wrong idea. As for Corel's support, it has never offered tech support for trial versions, so if you have even managed to get anything out of support, no matter how unhelpful, that is already progress!!
Can't help, though, on Video Pad. I had never heard of it till now.

Re: Corel vs Video Pad
That may be the case, but with trial versions of VS earlier than X8 you got all features, just time limited. And with the things removed from X8's trial, it makes it just about useless...
