In Corel VideoStudio X8, Is there a way to move an audio clip without the mouse? I want to select it, then go left or right in micro movements using the keyboard. The analog controls of a mouse are fantastic for quick and big jumps, but it gets tedious with minute adjustments and fine tuning.
Plus, there doesn't seem to be a way to continue playing while moving clips so that I can match audio with video during the adjustments... or is there no way around that?
Thanks!

VSX8 Move clip without mouse-only keyboard-for finer adjustm

This would be very useful for me as well, if the functionality is there. This is often called a Nudge feature, activated by the keyboard in units of seconds/tenths/hundredths of a second ... Related would be the ability to type in in similar units the position you want the clip to start at ...

Re: VSX8 Move clip without mouse-only keyboard-for finer adj
I'd like to add this:
I record video and audio separately, then combine them in Videostudio. The problem is that the micro adjustments allowed are not fine enough to sync the audio to the person talking so I can't align them perfectly. Also, when I turn on Sound Mixer mode so I can actually compare the waves of sound in the video track to the separate audio track, moving either will make the sound wave disappear while it's moving so that I cannot match them up visually.
This has been a royal PIA because syncing audio with video should be a piece of cake:
Two tracks, 1 video, 1 audio, both with wave forms.
Align the waveforms visually, listen and do some fine tune adjusting left or right until they are synced.
Mute the lower quality audio on the video track
Edit and produce - Done!
But that doesn't happen seamlessly. It's a consistent trial and error of cutting and moving and cutting and moving until the audio is perfectly aligned.
Am I missing something? Should this not be easier? I've got to be doing something wrong.

can't solve the problem of sound not playing when you move things around but there is a way of making fine adjustments if you only have a video and an audio.
reverse your thinking a little - move the video - not the audio
put a color block into the top track first - then put your video - the video will butt hard against the block
put the audio in the audio track- but do not put it hard against the left end
now change the duration of the color block which you can do 1 frame at a time - the video will move with the duration change - so you can nudge the video # frames forward or # frames back at a time - where # is any number from 1 frame upwards.
still have to play after each adjustment I'm afraid but at least you know whats happening.

I like that reverse thinking - I will definitely try that! Thank you for that response. I haven't used the software like that yet. I was stuck on the video being "stuck" where it was, but it makes sense to add a piece then to adjust the piece, not the track. Thanks again. Maybe it will be what I need.
As for the audio not playing while moving the track, that's perfectly fine - I don't need the play to continue while moving tracks. What I don't like is that the visuals disappear while moving the tracks.
The wave forms that show on both the audio and video clips vanish when trying to align them, making the process totally blind. Hard to align sound when you can't see the waves.
Appreciate the reply.

Thanks for that tip Brian - move the clips not the sound
I do the same thing often, In fact in last production I used a separate mic, a webcam and a cellphone cam - I managed to get it close, but not great - must build a small clapper board. Clapping my hands is not that good in reality.

One thing to bear in mind is that different products record audio at different cycles, so sometimes it is impossible to match it identically, but it's close enough not to be noticed by the human ear!
