Media section created Folders location?

Post by TroyTheTech »

Sorry to bother with this, but I am wondering where the Folders (created for organization of material/clips) under the Media section are located - here is the area that I mean...
Corel VSPx8 Media section+.PNG
I recently re-installed Windows (I wanted to create a Dual-Boot again, which I took away for a while) and upon re-installing VSPx8, I understandably didn't automatically see these Folders I had created in the past, in the newly-installed VSP. However, I searched the more common places for the directories (User data, App data, etc) but did not seem to find them, so that I could have these previously-created Folders within the VSP interface again (for organizational purposes). Profiles are also gone (in the Share Tab / Output area).

I usually use a Userspace with Customized locations (the "Documents" and "Pictures" folders), so I thought they would be restored, once I re-configured Windows to these customized locations again after reinstalling the OS (Windows sees these again, but VSP does not..?).

Just wondering where these are kept, once created in VSP (or if they are 'kept' at all). I don't mind having to simply re-create them, if they are something more 'internal' to the program and not 'created' anywhere on the hard drive.

Thanks for any info on this

If I am understanding you correctly, the standard working folders are -- strangely enough, like many other strange programs these days -- located in your Documents folder under Corel Video Studio Pro. But you can always check under Settings > Preferences > General within VS itself and see where the video and audio working folders are located, and change them to wherever you want them to be. Note also that if you open the burning module, then under the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen you will find a third reference to working folders for burning purposes, and if you have changed the first two, you need to make a third change here too unless you want to leave it as is.

Hi
Re-installing Video Studio will remove all templates and customised libraries.

The library pages are not directly associated with project files VSP's.

Your library and user defined templates are saved to a folder “18.0”
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\18.0

Indecently it is also this folder that is removed / renamed to reset the program to its default state.

Save Library….
From the Settings menu choose Library Manager – Export Library should save to a folder of your choice, that could then be used to import the library after a re-install.

Saving the 18.0 folder to a safe location could also be used to reset the library, I assume that would include the user defined Movie Templates

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that is what I meant by the "Userspace" areas (usually C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\ ), I do see a "Corel VideoStudio Pro" folder in there - and it does match up with the Working Folders in the Preferences, I just did not find anything in there (it was literally 'empty'). Odd...

Well, perhaps I lost something in all of this OS shuffling around  haha
Thankfully, no material was lost (backgrounds, clips) since those Folders were mainly holding 'pointers' to the clips (in my case) that it creates when you import media. I'll just have to re-create them for now - and watch that I don't 'lose things in the move' next time, heh.

Thanks for the reminder of the locations and the Tip about the burning module!

Take care

Thanks a lot! That explains a few things, even though I think I lost some of that due to my own shuffling things around...

I'll have to remember the Library 'backup function' for the future!

Thanks again 8)
