I'm using videostudio pro x7. I have a logitech c270 webcam which is supposed record at 1280x 720 HD.
When I click on video capture, I can't find any setting to get a 16:9 ratio in the preview screen - it's 4:3. I've tried going through the list of options > video properties, but nothing seems to make any difference. The project settings are to online, 1280 x 720, and when I pull the clip into my video, it gets stretched horizontally to fit the widescreen.

I admit I don't really understand what any of the settings mean (in options > video properties in the video capture tab), My videos are for online viewing. Can anyone help me record in 16:9 from my webcam? Thanks.

Have you used the webcam software to capture? Did you setup the webcam for 16x9 capture?

I have a Logitech HD Pro C920 webcam which records in widescreen, preferences are set to 1080p recording and works perfectly when using the Logitech software.
In Video Studio after selecting the Capture tab/Capture Video, then selecting the webcam as the source it is then necessary to change the format to MPEG2 HD, then click on the wheel next to the format tab and you are given the option to record in 720P or 1080P.
Whilst the preview screen shows the recording as being distorted, once completed and added to the timeline the recording is widescreen without any distortion
