Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
I recently upgraded to VSx8.5 and I'm having problems with the audio ducking feature. Every single time I add the feature to a track and hit 'ok' VS crashes. Any ideas?

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
Open VSX8.5-> right click wav music file-> audio ducking-> manually adjust settings-> hit ok-> VS crashes when processing
Since my pc is new I re-installed windows 8.1 along with VSX8.5 ultimate to see if that would resolve the issue but I still have the same problem.

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
My problem is not limited to audio ducking alone. I have repeatedly tried editing my projects to no avail. The program keeps freezing up for no apparent reason and I have to close it out via task manager. My pc is a brand new machine and VSX8.5 is reportedly compatible with windows 8.1 so what gives? Is it possible that Corel sent me a bad/corrupt file? I don't see anyone else experiencing these problems on here so I'm out of other ideas. One thing is certain; the program isn't working as its supposed to so my next step will be to request a refund and go back to VSX7. In fact, I'm going to try installing it to see if I have the same problems and report back.

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
Hi
Sorry you are having so many problems, I have just updated to Windows 10, no problems so far with Video Studio 8. I applied the 8.5 patch and still have no problems.
When using W7 I did not have any issues with Audio Ducking nor crashes
If your machine is brand new is it upto date with Windows Updates and using the correct graphics drivers, just cos its new doesn’t mean it has the right graphics driver, that caught me out with a new laptop?
Hopefully someone on the forum using W7 and 8.5 can test their system.
Otherwise I would contact Corel support or maybe Corel via their Facebook account, which is free.
It is possible that you have a corrupt file, but I would have thought unlikely?

I still have the W7 and VS 8.5 set up. Tried the Audio Ducking and there was no problem. I don't think 8.5 is the problem as it works on all levels with Windows 7.
Not going to W10 until you lot have given it a good testing!!! LOL

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
I had no problems running VSX7 on my old Windows 7 system. The problems I'm having are on my new pc running Windows 8.1 for some strange reason. I installed VSX7 on my new system as well to see if the problem was directly related to the VSX8.5 program itself and its not running as its supposed to either. Some of my projects on the newly installed VSX7 act as though they are importing but when its done nothing appears. Others open up and I can re-link/edit them with no problems, and sometimes it stops responding for no apparent reason. I even went as far as re-installing Windows and starting over but its useless. Its very strange because all of my projects currently open on my old Windows 7 system (specs are listed under my name) with no problems whatsoever. But here's the thing; I purchased the new pc for the specific purpose of video editing so I need to figure this out. In addition, all of the other programs I have installed on my new pc (Adobe CS5.5 Suite, Corel 3D Motion Studio, Corel Office, MS Office, etc) work just fine. Corel Videostudio is the only one that I'm having problems with.
It would seem to me that there is some kind of compatibility issue or something regarding my new pc. I have ran Driver Scanner and Windows Update and everything is up to date. I have ran Windows compatibility mode to no avail. I've ran CCleaner Professional registry cleaner but it made no difference. I even received the hot fix for VSX8.5 (18.4.0.25) today upon opening the program but the program continues to stop responding. As soon as I open VSX8.5, import my project, and start using the program to edit/preview it stops responding within seconds and I have to close it out via task manager. This happens every single time on VS8.5, and the problems listed above with VSX7. Anyone have any ideas?
Here are my new computer specs;
Asus ROG G751JL 17.3" Full HD Gaming Notebook Computer;
Intel Core i7 4720HQ 2.60GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Windows 8.1

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
Lata, how do I know if I have the correct graphics driver?
I currently have the GeForce 345.05 driver installed... And its up to date...
**EDIT**
I went to the GeForce control panel and there apparently is a driver update (GeForce 355.82) which I'm in the process of downloading and installing now...
**EDIT**
I updated the driver to no avail...

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
Hi
Do you have problems creating NEW projects using CVSX8.5 installed on windows 8?
You seem to indicate that opening projects made using CVSX7 gives problems.
So using Windows 7 - X7 projects on Windows 8 – VSX7 program causes problems?
When you checked your Graphics Driver versions did you do that via the manufacturers web site or device manager, manufacturer is best.
Have you installed both CVSX7 and X8 Ultimate versions, using filters in your projects may cause problems?
Was your older windows system using 32 bit or 64 bit, from your profile it appears to be 64bit.
I don’t have Windows 8 so cannot check out X7 projects, besides upgrading to W10 is giving me lots of problems, not with VS but Windows just crashes a lot for no reason, not that I have found, maybe AMD Graphics????
You may be best contacting Corel Support, if your free period has expired then try Corel on Facebook

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
No, there doesn't seem to be any problems creating new projects in VSX8.5, and there are no problems creating new projects in VSX7 either. The issue seems to be directly related to importing my .vsp files from VSX7 to VSX8.5 (same problem when importing VSX7 .vsp files into VSX7) but I have upgraded VS all the way back from X5 and never had a problem importing .vsp files from previous versions. I started out just installing VSX8.5 ultimate but it wouldn't respond so I later installed VSX7 ultimate to see if I had the same problem on both versions. I currently have both installed now.
And yes, windows 7 64 bit and windows 8.1 64 bit. I also downloaded the VSX8.5 64 bit file from Corel, and the graphic driver was downloaded through my NVIDIA control panel.
I may just have to contact Corel tomorrow after the holiday...
**EDIT**
I just double checked at the NVIDIA website and I have the most current driver installed...

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
I completely uninstalled both versions of VS and re-downloaded the VSX8.5 installation files from the link Corel provided me. So far VSX8.5 seems to be working as its supposed to. I have been successful at importing my VSX7 video projects and editing them. The audio ducking feature seems to work as well although it appears that manually setting the audio is going to be best. I will report back if my problem resurfaces, or new ones arise.
The only thing I can think happened was that the original downloads from Corel somehow became corrupted...

Re: Audio Ducking Crashes VSX8.5
Hi
Sorry I missed your post yesterday, Good to know you seem to have fixed your problems.
We can reset the program to its default “as installed state”, I cannot remember if that removes the Ultimate package.
Re naming the folder 18.0 to “18.0 old” will create a new folder when launching VS.
Add % appdata% to the search panel should find the roaming folder.
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming
Now navigate to :-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\18.0
Rename the folder, you can always revert back.
I have had a similar issue opening VSP’s. although running the original version 8
I have had reason to re-install CVSX8, after applying SP1 I was unable to open my existing project files VSP.
After applying the 8.5 patch all worked ok
I then installed the hot fix, my version is now 18.5.0.25
