Can I Burn To Dual-Layer?

Post by scw1217 »

Okay, here is what I did:

I attempted to burn a DVD Moviefactory 3SE slideshow. I selected to create Disk Image (iso) file AND Video_ts folders. It ran through the creation process, but when it reached the disc burning stage, it said the DVD was not large enough. I was using a single layer DVD-R. I was forced to cancel. Upon checking out the created .iso file AND the video_ts folders, the .iso was 5.4GB. The video_ts folder contained numerous files, but the audio_ts folder is empty. Can I purchase a dual-layer DVD, and then use the Burn from Disc Image feature? Also, since the Audio_ts folder is empty, did the Moviefactory complete the creation of all files it needs to use the Burn from Disc Image feature? I would hate to wait through the creation process again. Thanks for your response.

Computer facts: Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, WinXP SP2, 80GB HD
Burner: Pioneer DVR-A07 - The book says it will burn dual-layer DVDs.

On a normal movie DVD, the AUDIO_TS folder is empty. The audio & video are multiplexed together in the VIDEO_TS folder. I've never made a slideshow DVD, but I assume it's the same. Apparently, the AUDIO_TS folder is for DVD-Audio (Special audio-only DVDs).

In the output burning module if you click on the advanced tab or
icon (it's there somewhere's, not sure of the MF3se version) there is
an option that says
"Archive images of slideshows"
if you Uncheck that box you may end up fitting the video onto
a single-layered dvd. (Check it out).

If that option is activated then MF burns all the images of the project
onto the dvd as a backup. Usually this causes the cd/dvd project to
become very large.

Hope this helps,

DMF3se does not support dual layer burning. only DMF 3.5 bundled with DL drives and DMF3 full version (after DL patch). If you purchased a DL drive, you will need to use Nero or others to burn the ISO created by MF3se to DL disc.

How do I save the video I'm editing as an .iso in MF3SE? I can't find that option anywhere...

Or, is it automatically saved as an .iso and I'm too dumb to realize it?

MF4 Dual Layer Help Needed

Post by uncadave »

I may be overlooking something, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to get MF4 to burn a dual-layer DVD. Drive is a Sony DRU-710A BYX3. Other specs: Win XP Home, AMD Athlon XP 3000+.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance,
--Dave!
