Filename in top Border

Post by Jim Hardin »

Using PSP X7 in the Edit window.

I had to reinstall today and find when I go to full size with an image the file name no longer appears at the top border beside the Program Title, "Corel PaintShop Rro X7"

Does anyone know where this great feature is hidden away??? :D

Thanks, Jim

In my PSP the file name does not appear next to the Paint Shop Pro version at the top when I use the Zoom to 100% option (which I would consider viewing the image full size). It only appears when I click on the Maximize icon (next to the red X in the image window's titlebar) to maximize the window so that the image window fills the workspace and loses its titlebar and the border around the image. As far as I know there is no setting for this - it just happens.

Jim - try going to the Window Menu in PSP and see if Tabbed Documents is checked. If so, uncheck it and see if that helps.

First my thanks for all the responses!

JobB's description is better than mine :D I tried that and it does work but not reliably and not the behavior I saw before...

Before if I had multiple images in non-tabbed view and sorted so that they all sized to fill the workspace. Then I clicked on a single images Maximize button it filled the screen and the file name appeared at the top. However, within the border of the image it still had the Restore and Close icons showing???

Jim, If I understand you correctly the restore and close buttons are still there but they are in a different place. Now they are located directly under the program's Minimize/Restore/Close buttons.

In the below example I had three images open in non-tabbed view and I maximized one of them.

Above example is in PSPX8 but it looks the same in X7.

I see the filename showing in yours.

These are from mine:
My "Normal" operating view:
Corel 1.jpg
Image at maximize but no filename:
Corel 2.jpg
Curious - how does one indent here???

That is strange Jim. I even fired up PSPX7 to make sure we were comparing apples to apples. . .

Resetting your workspace "might" help as it seems to cure all sorts of things. Here are some instructions. It mentions X6 but the process is still the same for later versions. Note that if you select Option 2 (holding down the Shift key) your file locations will need to be reset whereas in Option 1 you can avoid this.

Thank you!

Tried it out but no results... By the way, it did not have the filename in X6 did it? (never saw it till X7)

Think I will do a nice uninstall and reinstall it - that too often cures things

I just checked X4, X5 & X6 and you're correct; X7 was the first version to have the file name next to the program name. On a side note, X4 didn't allow you to restore once you maximized as it would automatically switch you to tabbed mode. I seem to remember a lot of users complaining about that.

I hope the uninstall / reinstall works for you.

Well it did not...

Uninstall - shut down - restart - install

Still where I was at the beginning :(

Too bad I saw this before, at least I would not miss what I did not know about

That's so strange and I'm sure frustrating too.

If for any reason you need to uninstall again, try using the cleanup tools provided by Corel to see if that makes a difference. You can find them here http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=52337 I don't know if that will make a difference or not but it will clean out anything the program leaves behind. Sorry I didn't think to tell you earlier.

Do you see the image titles in Tabbed mode? That is actually my preference as I can easily click on the one I want.

All versions prior to X4 show the file name on the title bar. I don't have X3 so I don't know about that version. X2 and earlier all have it.

X3 has the Title at the top of the windowed image and also on the PSP version bar as well. Maximising the image the PSP version bar also then shows the scaling % as well.

And yet you can see from my pictures it is not present...

It was before I had to do a re-install.

I have never seen it before and I started with PSP 7.

So in the NX series, there must be a setting??? Or at least one would not think it is up to a roll of the dice
