Pro x8 crashes upon launch

I've only owned Videostudio pro x8 for a month and have yet to create ANY thing with this product. I have only uploaded my video clips. However, now when I open it, it crashes immediately. This is the error message:

Welcome to the forums, and I'm sorry you're having this problem. Unfortunately, the faulting module igdumdim64.dll is not a Corel/Video Studio module, but part of the Intel (on board?) graphics driver for Windows 8/8.1 -- though I see that it also works with computers running Win 7, like yours. Intel describes it as the "User Mode Driver for Intel(R) Graphics Technology". There are also apparently several versions of it, and the first thing I would be doing would be checking the Intel website to see if there is an updated version of it.

From the version number you give, VS X8 already appears to have Service Pack 1 installed. But a new update was recently released, free to registered users, which makes it VS X8.5. You can download it here: http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/. Perhaps installation of it might rectify the problem -- but again I can't help thinking that maybe the faulting dll will still need updating.

Ultimately, I would fall back on the old fashioned method of reinstalling VS.
