Is there some serious documentation from Corel about topic?
As X6/X7 are last working in Windows XP. Can PaintShop Pro X8 save in older formats for X6/X7? What do I lose?

Re: File format compatibility X6/X7 vs. X8?
Image format compatibility is the same for all of those versions.
EDIT: I have to add a caveat to the above. When saving as .pspimage you have to make sure to have selected the options in that dialogue box to make the save file backwards compatible with previous versions, otherwise X7, for example, won't open .pspimage files saved in X8. When I installed X7 the option to set compatibility for X4 to X7 seems to have been set by default. In X8 I just found that this was not the case and I had to set it manually, otherwise it saved only as X8 compatible. Once set, however, you don't have to set it again.
